Sorry that I’ve been slow in getting round to your replies this week but I’ve been very busy planning a party that I’m holding tomorrow! I had originally intended to have a birthday party, but I was so late organising it that not many people could come. So, as I'd promised some of the guys and gals backstage 'a bit of a do', I decided to have a 'Pink Party' and raise money for two cancer charities.

The theme is VERY pink… pink bubbly, pink cupcakes and pink sweeties, even the lucky dip prizes are pink, and wrapped in pink paper!!! We’re going to play some children’s games like 'pass the parcel' and 'pin the tail on the donkey' and we're going to sing karaoke, with a couple of 'Pink' songs thrown in of course! The idea is to pay to sing a song, or in my case to pay to stop me singing!!!!!! I was really hoping for good weather, but the forecast is not too promising.

I’m hoping to raise a thousand pounds so keep your fingers crossed that we can do it for everyone who has been affected by this awful disease. I'll put some pictures up on next week’s blog and let you know how we got on.

The plan is that the party won't go on past midnight. The main reason being that I’m going to be 'on air' at 11am on Sunday morning as it's Beauty Day – thank goodness it's Smashbox, at least I'll have the experts on hand to help me cover up the eye bags!! I'm also on with Keeley from Elemis at 1pm and then Philip Kingsley at 2 so hope to see you all there!

Much love,

Julia xx

I hope your pink party goes okay at the weekend and that you have good weather. What a good idea it sounds as if it is going to be great fun, lets hope you raise good money. Are you going to make the cupcakes. As I have mentioned before we have several labradors, and for the last three or four years around September we get involved in a charity working test with the dogs in aid of Cancer, we work the dogs, have a raffle, auction and barbecue which everyone pays for, we have always raised good money, and yes it is a really good cause. This year we are doing it for the soldiers, as they are true hero’s and deserve the help.
Anyway good luck with your party and will see you on the beauty day.
    Love Jean xxx
P.S. The Apprentice is going to be good at the final, I wonder who is going to win.

    Hi Julia,
Your Pink Party sounds great! It’s such a good idea to have a get together and raise money for such worthy charities at the same time. I think we all know someone who has been affected by cancer and realise how important it is to raise money for them. Make sure you take lots of pictures to put on your blog next week!
I’m going to make your apple dorset cake this weekend, can’t wait!! I’ve tried all your recipes that you’ve posted and they have all turned out great. Keep them coming when you have time.
Will have to record some of the Beauty Day shows as I go on holiday on Sun, I love to get all the tips and advise from the experts, especially from Ail.
    Take care,

Good luck with the party Julia. Fantastic cause too. I think we all know someone affected by cancer unfortunately. Hope the weather clears for you too.
I’d also like to add it’s quite fitting that you are on QVC ‘beauty day’ Sounds like you’ll have a busy one.
I’m off next week so I’m hoping for good weather too!
    Speak soon xx

    Hi Julia
What a brilliant way of raising money for the cancer charities, hope all goes well for you, weather wise too…although it’s absolutely pouring down here at the moment.
Sorry, but I missed the pilates yesterday, Chris has been on hols this week and we’ve been having days out. Wednesday, we went to Anglesey and had a lovely picnic by a lake, then Chris walked Bobby and I sat in the sunshine, it was too uneven for me to walk…better safe than sorry! Yesterday another trip out with picnic, although we sat in the car as it was raining again, but it brings back lots of memories from childhood…sandwiches and a flask of coffee aaaahhh!
Have a brilliant day raising lots’n’lots of money, whatever the weather.

    Hi Julia,
Just had to write and say I’m soo pleased Tom won! He’s so funny – to me anyway. I think he’s so endearing and think they’ll get on well as a team. Really Helen went down in the ratings for me when she made a bit of a mess a few weeks ago. And I didn’t like the way she wanted to take over PM…and didn’t like the way she changed her business plan in the board room!! I have to wonder whether the butter wouldn’t melt look maybe does melt lol?!
    Hope your enjoyed your weekend.

    Hi Julia
I hope the party went well and you raised the £1000 hoped for – i hope you exceeded your expectations though. What a great idea in having a pink party and also raising funds for such a relevant(our lovely AliXX) and worthwhile cause.
I was also an apprentice “Tom” fan, i was delighted that he won the investment money – i knew when he explained how he had managed to get his products into Walmart(delivering by hand to the relevant buyer his product within a giftbox) that he had won as Lord Sugar looked so impressed. Helen’s businesss plan was disappointing, although, she would be an employers dream staff member – so focussed and such a hard worker always striving for the desired results.
Thanks for the apple cake recipe – i made your christmas cake and chocolate cake recipies last Christmas and both were received well by my family and friends(empty plates all round!!) – i’m looking forward to making the apple cake now, vanilla ice cream sounds good but i’ll miss on the white wine(i dont drink alcohol) but i’ll have some extra cake and ice cream to make up for it!!naughty but oh so nice ehXX
I watched your Smashbox show on Sunday and heard you mention that you had only had four and a half hours sleep – you looked great – i loved your dress and it was lovely to see you in “heels” – a nice change. Lovely to speak to you again Julia i’m getting there with my garden but am getting a little fed up with living in a building site – it will be lovely when finished(i keep trying to tell myself!!) Look after yourselfX Love Linda Glasgow.

    Hi Julia
I made the cake from your last blog today. Despite the fact that Dale was on air at the time, it actually turned out good! Delicious actually. We had a couple of friends round for ‘afternoon tea’ and it disappeared in minutes.
It was great speaking to you on Sunday. I have to admit I was a tad nervous beforehand but one of my favourite books is ‘Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway’, so I did! As I said, I really love Elemis, though I have to say, I still miss Liquid Radiance. How about you? xx

All the best for your pink party, every penny raised is worthwhile! good for you. I wrote on an earlier blog about Whitby Jet and you were going to get the name of the shop for me, sorry to be a pain, but I am going on 23rd of July and it would really be useful for me as I am wary of some retailers, they don’t have QVC’s reputation! You should get it on QVC.

    Hi Julia
Just had to write about the Apprentice…totally agree with Susan’s comments. Tom was a worthy winner and proves that you don’t have to be ruthless to get there in the end. As for Helen, although looking the part and very professional with it, she did go down in my estimation, by taking on board the comments made about the bakery business and then mentioning it was her second business plan….very naughty! I’m really glad she didn’t win on that basis, otherwise I would never have watched again!
What are we going to watch now that it’s finished?!

    Hi Jean
The party went well and we raised a good amount – I’ll tell more in this weeks blog. Yes I did make the cup cakes – just little buns with piped pink butter icing on the top.
So what did you think of the Apprentice finale? I wasn’t particularly impressed with any of their business ideas but Helen’s really let her down don’t you think??
Oh well all over for another year – although I think the Junior one starts soon …….

    Hi Steven
Hope you have had better weather in Scotland for your week off than we have had down here …… very changeable, hot sun one minute and pouring with rain the next!!
The weather wasn’t great for the party but at least the ‘smokers’ were able to get outside for a ‘fix’ and not get rained on.
Thanks for your comment about Beauty Day – appreciated as always!
I bet you are looking forward to your new season starting – I can’t believe it has come around so quickly – we only have a fortnight to wait for kick-off!

    Hello Pauline
I’m sure we could have squeezed you in!!!The cupcakes were just a basic victoria sponge recipe: 4 oz marg, 4oz caster sugar, 2 eggs and 4 and a half oz self raising flour. It made 14 cakes, so I did 2 batches. The topping was butter cream icing with a drop of pink food colouring. I ‘piped’ a little design which was hysterical as I hadn’t had a piping bag in my hands for about 15 years!!! – and then Sophie added pink sprinkles. They looked and tasted OK and all got eaten!
Will tell more on this weeks blog

    Hi Cassandra
Thanks for wishing me well for the party – it went well as I shall elaborate on in this weeks blog.
I don’t read facebook so I don’t know what is said about me ….. probably just as well!!! I just am who I am and really have no interest in going down the route of cosmetic surgery. We all age eventually anyway so I just believe it’s best for me to do what I can with creams, good healthy food and exercise to keep everything functioning as best it can.
I think the eye bags are hereditary – but if they were good enough for my Dad they are good enough for me.
I hope you will post again

    Hi Susan
I think Helen’s business idea let her down badly and I was cringing when she started to put forward her second choice idea. It was a little disappointing that clearly Lord Sugar has no intention of pursuing Tom’s proposal either. It would seem he is much more interested in Tom’s already established beauty products and developing them rather than doing his ‘chair’ idea, so possibly a little unfair?
Lord Sugar did say that if it had been the same criteria as previous series Helen would have won hands down – so organised and not afraid of hard work.
I’m wondering if maybe Susan’s range will pop up on QVC one day?? – you never know

    Hi Linda
I’m glad your garden is making progress – the plants are probably all benefiting from all this rain – something needs too!
So, another Tom fan – I did like his Walmart story but I’m not really a fan of people who don’t see things through to the end. He was probably deserving of the investment – maybe his ideas and Lord Sugars know how will create the perfect partnership?
I agree about Helen, the perfect employee!
Thanks for the comment about my dress – a bit different for me but I fancied a change! Cheated a bit with the shoes – not really heels, they are wedges, but at least I can walk in them – just about!!

Yip really looking forward to it now Julia. We unveil the Championship flag at Ibrox on Saturday against Hearts. We have only signed one player so far but there is a bit of time before the window shuts. Having said that we play in the Champions League next week against Malmo.
Who do Palace start against? Are you going along to Selhurst again this season when you are not working?
The weather still isnt great here, but thats Scotland for you. We don’t get Summers up here!
PS Remember one time I mentioned to you about feet and it was going on what I thought was Claire Sutton’s facebook page? Turns out it wasnt Claire at all! So if you were upset by it at all then I’m sorry. Although I guess if you had been then you wouldnt be replying to me still 😀

    Hi Julia,
Hoope your Beauty Day hour with Ali is as fabulous as lovely Pip’s was!! They are perfect together!
On the Apprentice note…I do think it’s odd how we all feel we can comment on the personality’s of the candiates don’t you? Not as if we know them!! And let’s face it we all have bad points as well as good points!!! I wouldn’t hold it against Tom I must say for not finishing through things! But that’s just me. I’m not sure Helen is the perfect employee – maybe for the employer but I don’t think it’s a good idea that the main bulk of her life is her work. Sad. I agree with you as I said on the eye bag thing being hereditary though! I think as I get older mine will get worse. But no surgery for me either!!
Glad you raised £1000 at the weekend. It’s a lovely feeling doing practical things for charity.

Just found this one ….. not the start you or Ali McHoist would have hoped for I’m sure? Still my sister’s happy …………!
We have Peterboro away on the first day of the season. Our first home game is Burnley, but I will miss that one as it’s Mum’s birthday – think I told you that already? – but I will be at the Blackpool home game on the 27th.
It’s a very iffy summer weatherwise. Sunday was quite nice, Monday OK and today overcast …. feels like we might have a thunderstorm!
Don’t worry about the feet thing – I never let anything like that bother me, people are entitled to their opinions even if we don’t all agree all the time.
