Awards, Wedding & September!

Hi there, hope you are well?

Did you see the QVC Beauty Excellence Awards (#QVCBEA on Twitter – great pics on there!) last Friday? What a fantastic night – many congratulations to all the nominees and winners! I was co-hosting the event with Alison Young and my role was interviewing the beauty experts and brands backstage (check out QVC’s Beauty department to find your own favourites). The atmosphere was amazing and we had a couple of glasses of bubbly – a very fun Friday night. I hope you like the photos.

Then on the Sunday of the bank holiday weekend I went to the wedding of my dear friends Gary & Solenn – part of the Ibiza posse I so often talk about. We all met in Ibiza and have become great friends. It was such a special day and they looked so happy; they really are such a wonderful couple and I know we all wish them a lifetime of happiness.

So, September is here! I must confess I am always rather relieved when this month comes around, and over the years I have decided it’s my favourite one (and no, not just because it’s my birthday month, but because I like the softer energy it brings and how somehow everything seems to settle down again). I was having a coffee yesterday in the early morning September sunshine and I penned this little poem, what do you think?

January’s ok but let’s face it, kind of grey,

February’s alright asides from lousy valentine’s night.

March is non-descript, ain’t nothing going on,

April is damp, get those showers gone!

May gets brighter, will the warmth return?

June gives us promise of the summer we yearn.

July up and down, but where’s the sun?

August’s bit frantic – run, run, run!

October’s scary, gives me the quivers,

November’s cold, gives me the shivers.

December’s joyful but often can break you.

Now September, September is a month that will make you….

…Feel happy in the warmth of the late summer sun,

Feel relieved that once again routine has begun.

Begin to reflect on the passing year,

Golden leaves remind you to step it down a gear.

September’s the month of my birthday,

September makes me want to play.

A new beginning, fresh start, all things new,

September, September, I love you!

Do you, or have you ever been inspired to write poetry? I found it quite fun! Do post a comment below, would love as always to hear from you.

Big, big hugs

Dear Craig it’s fair to say, I don’t honestly dislike any day:
But as always your smashing tomes make me join the queue &
pen an answer in response to you.

January is hard, rather stern that must be said – but surely not so bad we’d rather be dead.
February just needs a little effort to appreciate delightfully – the wonder of our world, imagining what might be.
March has a gentler discipline, although we need to be mindful that – the weather can change at the drop of a hat!!!
Thank goodness April doesn’t have to try so hard to sing, she needs all her warmth & strength to give us spring.
May seems to have it all its own way with very little bother – but remember it’s a well trodden bridge from one season to another.
June is trying hard to get things in order, thoughtful, reasoning – she’s responsible for the right dose of summer seasoning.
Although July’s veneer is getting baked harder & more imperious to rain than the rest – her mallow soft centre contains family, friends, fun & holiday fest.
August, a continuum of July & more of the same – has the annual holiday claim to fame.
September, May’s twin in reverse at the other end of the curve – gentler, easier, but bridging the seasons, her job is still to serve.
October – lucky October with summer memories still fondly savoured combined with the faint glow of Christmas lights – never lazy or uncaring, she benevolently bestows hedonistic, autumnal smells & sights
November – snuggling up to Christmas & we just want it to run & run – so we can bask forever in the glow of anticipated Christmas fun.
December, the Godfather, head honcho, big daddy, the real deal by a mile – please make our year go out with a smile.
    Best love Penny

    Hi Craig
Love your poem, all seasons are delightful.

    Mother Nature.
You take a seed and plant it deep
It forges up “you sow you reap

Then one day soon it shows its face
It smiles at you with loving grace

Still lots to do to build its strength
You watch it daily and note its length

Then all at once the seasons right
You see it now it’s reached its height

In shades of colour and petals bright
You’ve sown yourself a real delight

The joy it brings is natures wealth
It fills your heart you lose yourself

Mother Nature she gives for free
As seasons change there’s more to see

The rivers and valleys, The cool fresh air
Its all for you and I to share

    Make sometime to look around
Take heed of everything you’ve found

From mountains high To tiny seed
They bring such joy Its what we need

The seed was just the tiny start In all creation We play our part

The seed you planted that came to flower

Is Mother Nature in all her power.
