Firstly apologies for not posting the promised photos of Sophie's trip to Australia sooner. I was away last week and only had my 'baby netbook' with me, which didn't have the pictures loaded onto it – schoolgirl error!!
The first one is a picture of Sophie and the group she met up with for her 'Intro to Oz' week, with the iconic Sydney landmarks of the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background.
If any of you have any offspring planning on a trip to Australia in the future, this 'intro week' is a really good idea, as they are shown around the sightseeing spots en masse and they also meet fellow solo travellers who they can then team up with if they want to explore a bit further afield, which is what Sophie did.
The second photo was from week two when Sophie and two other girls travelled up the Gold Coast. Gorgeous beach, but totally deserted because of the rain, which unfortunately Sophie was plagued with for most of her holiday.
There was quite extensive flooding the day she left Surfer's Paradise to return to Sydney to visit with her cousins, one of whom took the final two photos.
Sophie has always been a fan of the television show 'Bondi Rescue', so on her list of things to do was a visit to Bondi Beach. She managed this on the last day of her holiday, on her way to the airport, courtesy of her cousin James.
The first picture is pretty good but the second one, where Sophie had managed to persuade a lifeguard to pose with her, is obscured by James's finger! We have all done this I'm sure, BUT James is a film editor and Indie film producer / director… you would think he could have managed to keep his digits out of the shot!
So if you ever see an 'indie' film whose trademark in all the scenes is a thumb or finger in the shot, it was probably the work of 'cousin James' LOL!!!!!
Incidentally, anyone else think the lifeguard bears a striking resemblance to Man Utd and England footballer Wayne Rooney? And did you get the joke?… 'striking' resemblance!
Talking of movies, I see 'The Cold Light of Day', starring Bruce Willis, is out on general release tomorrow. This was the movie I mentioned in a blog ages ago, where they shot some of the action in the bay beneath my house in Spain.
I will definitely be going to see it and hopefully will not see myself in a mauve sun dress peering down at them filming through binoculars. Maybe I should go and see it with the family as an Easter treat, as I am not working this weekend.
Hope you have some great plans lined up for Easter, including a bit of QVC shopping. Speak soon, Julia xxx
