August is here and there’s lots going on!

August is here and schools have broken up. I hope you're enjoying the summer (I've decided not to mention the weather anymore!)

I've had a busy few days, starting with a day trip to see Mum and Dad on the Isle of Wight. I particularly wanted to see Dad as his back has been causing him a lot of pain again and he's going to have to go back into surgery as soon as possible. I'm pleased to say he looked really well though, despite the agony.

It was a surprise visit, the only downside… there wasn't any homemade fruit cake to greet us, which Dad always makes when we go down! I must get the recipe for you. It takes him next to no time to prepare and it tastes out of this world.

We headed home in the afternoon but not before stopping off at the fun fair to go on a couple of rides! The next day I ordered the Acer TSV from QVC. We're waiting with excitement for its arrival…. I opted for the 4 Easy Payments (always helps!)

When ordering the TSV it reminded me of my very first computer. My Sinclair Spectrum was given to me by Mum and Dad over 25 years ago! I just loved it and the games were brilliant. Hungry Horace, Jet Pack and Horace Goes Skiing were my favourites. I also spent hours and hours typing up a programme to play 'Hang Man'. It was promptly saved to cassette tape! How technology has moved on!

Looking forward to some fabulous jewellery coming up on QVC. Sunday 5th August Amber Discoveries, was back on air, one of my favourite shows – hope you caught it. I'm also thrilled to be a part of Diamonique Day on Wednesday 8th August. I'm on air with Andrea McLean at 7pm and then the finale with 'Celebrate with Diamonique' at 10.

Have a good week and I'll see you soon.

Take care

Ps. An hour of technology featuring Apple this Tuesday 7th at 8pm… Can't wait!

This week's fact. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Its temperature can reach over 400 degrees Celsius but equally it can be very cold, as low as -170 degrees Celsius.

Hi Charlie, sorry to hear re your dad, I hope the surgery is a success and sorts out his back for good. Katie Bear says hi and thanks you for your hi! I enjoyed your Carol Hochman show and when you mentioned staying in a hotel and room service I suddenly thought of the Pretty Woman film which I love! Remember when room service came and the man kept staring at her outfit and then was waiting for a tip and she said “what are you staring at”?! It’s so funny and the more I watch it the more I want to watch it! And Richard Gere – swoon swoon!! Why cant I meet a good looking wealthy guy like that I ask myself?! And of course the Pirates of Penzance you always mention! It’s just one joke after another! Well take care, cheers, Christine xx

    Hi Charlie.
Oh dear your poor dad, he went through all that and he has to do it again. I hope it goes better the second time around for him. I had a slight infection after I had my 16 stitches out, but am fine now [ they think it was the heat and moisture from sweating].
Well Raspberry arrived last weekend and I tried to do the same as you did with Blueberry [ peeping out from his bag] Bella wasn’t inpressed and gave me a dirty look. I guess I don’t have the same touch as you.
    Take care.
Love Debby and a BIG Whoof from Bella

Hi Charlie, I so sorry to read that your DAD has to have further work done on his back, I hope he will be in hospital quickly and home again, the back is such a complex problem, I hope this time it will be dealt with and give him some peace,my husband played golf from he could hold a club and by his late 20ys he was almost crippled with pain,I know your dad will be completly different but I have seen the distress this type of condition can bring. I really hope everything goes well this time.
Well I’m sure you have been enjoying the Olympics, they have been great havent they, what will we do with ourselfs after the Paralympics are over,I might get back to spending my husbands money on QVC again,he has loved the games for quite a few reasons.
Yes I remember the Spectrum, it set my son on his career path, he went to uni, and was in the same group as Clive Sinclairs son, he got a two one in Computing Science and Business Science and now works for the goverment and travels the world setting up and selling systems to other countries. I got a pleasant surprise the other night he bought me an I Pad 2, still to come to terms with it,but I’ll get there,
Well Charlie I hope you and the family make the most of this lovely weather, and even more I wish your Dad a speedy return to fitness,
    Regards to the family,
