Hi Ali , I wonder if you could help me with my query . I am 54 but I do look young for my age ( we all say that don’t we !), I have inherited good genes from my mum who is now sadly no longer with us, and was 82 when she died. Every day she wore eyeshadow, liner, mascara, a little blusher and a little lipstick . She looked as modern on the day she died as she did in the 1960’s and she never wore foundation or concealer, and all she ever used to remove her make up was baby oil, water and then Astral cream! She was beautiful. I am often mistaken for my mid-40s which is fab ! My query is that I have a couple of age spots coming up on my cheek and a few on my hands . I have been using Boots No7 lift and luminate dark spot corrector for about eight weeks now , and I genuinely don’t see a difference, although the lovely lady in boots said it should work in three months , which I am
having doubts about now . Do you have any suggestions on any other products I could use on my face and back of my hands , but not all over my face, just where the marks, or perhaps I should use something all over my face. Over the last few years I have used many of QVC’s wonderful beauty products , but never seem to stick to one I have tried Gatineau, Decleor, Elemis, Lulu’s timebomb range, Liz Earle, Perricone ( too expensive for me), Boots No 7 lift and luminate range ( which I’m using now ), Olay and L’oreal . Even though my skin is quite good , and I am on rather a lot of medication for my osteoarthritis of my back , and two hip replacements which didn’t go too well , hence why I am still on strong medication, I don’t have any crows feet, some frown lines, some smile lines , no surprise lines on my forehead. Having said all that , my age is beginning to tell as my neck is getting a bit lined, and my décolletage is looking a little crepey ! When I first started my medication for my osteoarthritis I lost five stone , which was great because I was nearly 17 stone . Unfortunately or even perhaps fortunately I have put on a stone and 1/2 as I am unable to exercise at the moment , but this has made my neck look better , I want to keep it like this when I hope to lose the weight again . So that’s another little query for you, neck and décolletage treatment. many thanks for listening to me ramble on , but a little help would be great and there are so many products out there it just get so confusing , I might just stick to baby oil and Astral !

    Dear Ali,
My 34 year old daughter is getting married next March in Australia where she lives. I asked her about her facial skin and did she need any products to get the best results for the wedding. She has pale, delicate looking skin which she say is normal to oily with some fine lines. She also mentioned that she has very small coloured bumps on her forehead and a few on her cheeks. She thinks they are blocked pores. Are there any products you could recommend for a full skin regime? As far as I know she is not allergic to anything.

As for myself I am 64 years old with craters for pores, sadly I am not exaggerating. Similar to my daughter I would describe my skin as a mix of dry to oily but with the skin surrounding the nostrils so dry that it flakes every day even though I use serums, oils and moisturisers. I have the best results by using three layers of primer, without, the make-up falls into them, including all the lines on my face especially under the eyes. I have tried using just foundation or just powder or both together with no success. I have tried most of the products that QVC sells but perhaps I am missing something? Are there any products, from facial care to make-up you could recommend or do I need a trip to the Beauticians?

With very best wishes and many thanks for all your tremendous help and hard work. You are a greatly treasured member of the QVC family and your knowledge, which knows no bounds is greatly appreciated.

Hi Ali I’m 58 and in the menopause and fortunately I have always had good skin with oily cheeks and forehead so luckily lines & wrinkles are not a problem for me. But what is becoming more and more of a problem are large open pores on my nose, cheeks and especially the chin area. I use Decleor cream cleanser & toner with aromessence neroli & Hydra Floral Rich although my skin isn’t dry, I also use Gatineau Radiance scrub & Elemis Exotic Moisture Mask about once every 2 weeks. I have tried a couple of different primers (Benefit Porefessional, Laura Geller with SPF & one from Clinique & Estee Lauder) non of them have made any improvement to the appearance of my open pores. Also I’ve noticed the texture of the skin going down each side of my mouth to jaw area has become rough & uneven so my liquid foundation looks dry and cakey. I have tried powder foundations but prefer a liquid. Can you please advise if there is anything I can do to improve the appearance of the open pores & rough uneven skin as it is gradually starting to bring me down. I have had many samples of foundation from various counters at my local department stores but they just don’t seem to help 🙁 Many thanks

Hi Ali I’m wondering what is the best lip care for ageing lips, I’m 65 and my lips are looking thin, not a good look to have. At present I use Gayle Hayman lip lift but would like some colour without looking like I’m chewing a wasp. Love QVC.

Hi Alison, your advice would be much appreciated please as my daughter has very dry hair through colouring and has recently developed psoriasis in her scalp and body. Could you recommend a hair care product that wouldn’t aggravate the problem and possible help her hairs condition . Many thanks Jo

I will be 60 in 2 weeks and up until now have had fairly good skin. This week however, I have noticed the lines on my cheeks and below are much deeper and crepy. I use Gatineau products in the main including masks and serums(have been using AlphaH recently but stopped again) and AD Synergy about once a week at night. I have been ‘using up’ creams I have purchased in the past from QVC e.g. Hydra Floral, timebomb etc but none consistently. Overall though I have always gone back to Gatineau. I cannot stretch to higher priced products. Do I just have to accept my wrinkles and crepy skin? Should I stop using up old creams and stick with the Gatineau? I am totally deflated by this especially given that it has happened so quickly. I have to admit that recently my cleansing and toning routine has been a bit haphazard could this be making thinks worse. PLEASE HELP I AM AT A LOSS. Thanks

    Hi Ali,

I’m a 35 mother of two boys and I’ve invested in three of Decleor TSV’s as I’m looking to get my skin in good condition. I’ve got some fine lines under my eyes which crease more when I smile. Could you recommend a good eye cream/treatment that will complement my TSV?

    Thanks in advance!
