View from the controls

Another week has raced by hasn’t it?

I had a really exciting morning last weekend. I took to the sky in a helicopter!

It was a Christmas gift from my other half to fly in a helicopter, complete with lesson, at the controls. It was brilliant – I loved every minute of it and highly, highly recommend the experience.

The visibility was superb and we could see for miles and miles. I even had my hands and feet on the controls, which was really exhilarating. I’d love to take lessons regularly but it’s a little out of my reach right now… Maybe one day!

My other half took this photo from the ground with her phone. It doesn’t have an optical zoom – but you can just make out the tiny spec of a helicopter in the distance..? Ok, to be fair it’s really, really tiny – hence the circle!

My flight reminded me of my time spent with Devon Air Ambulance a number of years ago when I produced a promotional video for them. That was an incredible few days of filming. Taking off and landing in some of the most unusual of destinations. After all, when called to an emergency there isn’t always a helipad to hand!

Air Ambulance provides a truly remarkable and essential service – particularly somewhere like the West Country where there is so much landscape to cover. I was fortunate enough to meet and interview some of the patients who were previously air lifted to hospital. They showed such gratitude knowing the swift journey made all the difference. The paramedics and pilot were fabulous too and I was in total awe.

Well, with my feet firmly back on the ground, I’ve some great shows on the way including an hour of BOSE this Saturday evening the 28th February at 8pm.

When it comes to audio – BOSE is considered one of the world authorities. I’m fortunate to own a BOSE speaker system and some headphones. They really do live up to the excitement and accolades the company receives. After all, it has provided sound for the space shuttle! So when we say BOSE is out of this world… it literally has been!

I’m also looking forward to a show this Tuesday 3rd March at 9pm with an hour of Easiyo. What’s your favourite flavour? Let me know in the comments section and we’ll see if we can discover the most popular. I adore Greek Coconut but also the simplicity of ‘Natural’ as I then add a variety of fruits, nuts or seeds when serving up. Delicious!

Now, with March nearly upon is that means it’s nearly competition time. A prize is up for grabs just like last month, more beautiful jewellery. All will be revealed next week.

Would love to hear from you in the comments section below or on twitter.
I’m @mecharliebrook

In the meantime… Perhaps I should consider another flying lesson… :-)

Take care
