I’ve just come back to work after a glorious few days on Italy’s Amalfi coast. We spent six nights there exploring several small towns including Positano and Praiano. It was absolutely beautiful, particularly Positano which was like nowhere I’ve ever been before – I understand now why it’s known as “the vertical town”! Set into a sheer cliff face it really is quite spectacular and delightful to explore on foot. We had some wonderful food there too – I think when I arrived back in the UK my body was essentially 85 percent mozzarella and 15 percent Prosecco…
By sheer coincidence my lovely friend and presenter colleague Craig Rowe was staying nearby with his mum, and our trips overlapped by a day so we were able to meet up for lunch (and take a cheesy selfie!). It was so nice to spend time together outside work and in such a beautiful setting, and to get to know his gorgeous mother.
Another highlight was taking a boat trip to beautiful Capri, where we circled the island to see all the caves and grottos (and the holiday homes of the rich and famous, like Sophia Loren!) before hopping off at a little beach club where we had the most delicious fresh fish lunch.
All in all, a fabulous trip. I really wanted to go and see Pompei but we decided that we really didn’t have time to do it justice, so that will have to be a separate visit another time hopefully.
Of course, June is Beauty Month on QVC (if you’re a social media user you may have noticed the hashtag #QVCBeautySecrets, which people have been using to share their can’t-live-without beauty products). I couldn’t have lived without my Ultrasun in Italy (factor 50 all the way for my naturally very pale Celtic skin). But I’ve also been loving the Vita Liberata Murula self-tan oil . It’s a totally genius idea – a lovely oil which gives an instant bronzed glow, factor 50 sun protection but is also a self-tan! It gave my legs a wonderful colour, I’m thrilled.
Back to work now – and to the rain, it seems. Got to love a British summer, eh?
