Boat trip

An Italian break!

I’ve just come back to work after a glorious few days on Italy’s Amalfi coast. We spent six nights there exploring several small towns including Positano and Praiano. It was absolutely beautiful, particularly Positano which was like nowhere I’ve ever been before – I understand now why it’s known as “the vertical town”! Set into a sheer cliff face it really is quite spectacular and delightful to explore on foot. We had some wonderful food there too – I think when I arrived back in the UK my body was essentially 85 percent mozzarella and 15 percent Prosecco…

On the terrace

By sheer coincidence my lovely friend and presenter colleague Craig Rowe was staying nearby with his mum, and our trips overlapped by a day so we were able to meet up for lunch (and take a cheesy selfie!). It was so nice to spend time together outside work and in such a beautiful setting, and to get to know his gorgeous mother.

With Craig

Another highlight was taking a boat trip to beautiful Capri, where we circled the island to see all the caves and grottos (and the holiday homes of the rich and famous, like Sophia Loren!) before hopping off at a little beach club where we had the most delicious fresh fish lunch.

Boat trip

All in all, a fabulous trip. I really wanted to go and see Pompei but we decided that we really didn’t have time to do it justice, so that will have to be a separate visit another time hopefully.

Vita Liberata Marula Self Tan Oil with SPF 100ml - 216406

Of course, June is Beauty Month on QVC (if you’re a social media user you may have noticed the hashtag #QVCBeautySecrets, which people have been using to share their can’t-live-without beauty products). I couldn’t have lived without my Ultrasun in Italy (factor 50 all the way for my naturally very pale Celtic skin). But I’ve also been loving the Vita Liberata Murula self-tan oil . It’s a totally genius idea – a lovely oil which gives an instant bronzed glow, factor 50 sun protection but is also a self-tan! It gave my legs a wonderful colour, I’m thrilled.

Back to work now – and to the rain, it seems. Got to love a British summer, eh?

Much love,

Jackie x

Hi Jackie, I loved reading about your time in Italy it sounds and looks amazing. It was of special interest to me as we are going to Ischia ( one of the smaller islands near Capri) in September. I’m hoping we can get to Vesuvius whilst we’re there and I’d like to see some of the Amalfi Coast too but like you say it depends if time allows although we shall be there for 10 days.
Not having much success with self tanning I must check out that self tan oil you mention – it sounds like it could solve my dilemmas in that department!
    Best wishes

      Hi Denise
Oh have a wonderful time! September should be perfect weather too. I’m definitely going back to see Vesuvius and Pompei – we only had six days so not enough time. Do try the self tan oil, it’s fab!

Of all the places I’ve travelled, Positano/Amalfi/Sorrento/Ravello are THE most stunning – literally a ‘photo around every corner’. So glad you’ve been able to explore at least part of the area and hope you loved it as much as we did. And bought yourself a handbag (or 6!!!).

Your holiday destination in Italy looks absolutely beautiful and after reading your description I now would like to go there myself.
I shouldn’t say this but your husband looks gorgeous also!
Keep up with your great presenting, you are one of the best.

Hi Jackie, beautiful photos of you and Hubble again. You are so stunning Jackie. You choose some interesting holiday destinations. On a journalist note I’m sure you’re interested in the news coverage of Brexit. Regardless of your view it is uncertain times x

      Hi Susan,
You’re so kind, thank you! Yes indeed, very uncertain times. I don’t often miss working in news but at times like this I do, a little! I am still a news junkie though so it is always on in my car and at home. Have a great weekend.

Hi Jackie, lucky you, my favourite place is the Amalfi Coast. I went there to celebrate my 50th Birthday (a few years ago). We stayed just outside Sorrento and I too love Positano, bought clothes from a little boutique there. Capri is beautiful too, hope you visited the shops there, some expensive ones! One day I hope to return and revisit all those wonderful places and taste the food again. Lovely pics of you and hubby, plus Craig, must’ve been nice to catch up with him and Mum! I really enjoy watching you on tv, you do make me laugh, you have a good sense of humour. Might try that self tan you’ve been using, I have favoured the Decleor one though as it is used like a body lotion! Anyway you look very healthy!

      Hi Gill,
Yes I hadn’t been to that part of Italy before and thought it was absolutely beautiful. We didn’t go shopping in Capri…in fact, for once I didn’t do any holiday shopping at all! I probably do enough at work every day, QVC is just too tempting! I do think the Vita Liberata tan is fabulous, give it a go.

Hi Jackie, sorry to be negative but your new hairstyle does not suit your face shape at all, pulls it down. Please go back to your previous shorter style which was really lovely.xx

      Hi June,
I had short hair for such a long time and got really bored with it so I’m enjoying the change! Sorry you don’t like it.
