I've been busy answering all your beauty dilemmas. Watch the videos below to pick up handy tips and advice, and keep your eyes peeled for more clips coming soon.
Perricone, from Dr Nicholas Perricone, is a fantastic skincare brand and is what I would call a true doctor brand.
Dr Nick is a working dermatologist and nutritionist, and specialises in making his own worldwide patented ingredients. You can use any of his products as part of your usual routine.
At the cheaper end of the scale, I would recommend the Perricone Nutritive Cleanser. This gel cleanser is a bit of an unsung hero for this price range.
One of the questions that I am asked most frequently is what my daily beauty routine involves. Well, you wouldn’t believe the routine I go through in the morning from working on the farm and mucking out my horse stables to looking fabulous and glamorous on TV! I’ll let you in on some of my secrets…
I’m usually running late in the mornings – either one of the horses has escaped into another field or one of the dogs is recovering from an operation.
My routine has to be very quick, as I don’t have hours and hours to get ready – but there is a big difference between how I look when I’m running around in jodhpurs and odd socks to how I look on the TV!
Spring has finally sprung, so it's the perfect time to revamp your make-up, skincare or even haircare routine. But don't know where to start? Well, now's your chance to ask me all your beauty dilemmas.
Simply leave a comment in the box below and I'll do my very best to try and answer all your queries within the next couple of weeks.
But in the meantime, promise me one thing… wear sunscreen! You'll thank me later.
Q. Hi Alison, I've just turned 40 and my skin is awful. I have blackheads on my T-zone but my skin can be dry and oily at the same time. Can you recommend anything? Thank you, Sam.
A. If your skin is out of control and out of balance, I would recommend NV Perricone or Alpha-H skincare ranges.
Alpha-H You can try the Balancing Cleanser and Balancing Moisturiser to begin with and introduce their signature product Liquid Gold to your routine three times a week in the evening. Start off with these products, and then you can introduce the anti-ageing moisturiser which is enriched with glycolic acid - ideal for using as a night time treatment.
Q. Hi Alison, I have just started chemo for breast cancer and I am wondering what skincare I can use now. I usually use Elemis, Liz Earle, Clientele and Gatineau. Can I still use these please? Hope you can help. By the way I am 70, but I have been following your advise for about 12 years now with great results. Thank you.
A. When you are going through serious medical treatment like chemo, you can continue to use all of your favourite products as long as your skin is enjoying them. What can sometimes happen, is as your body reacts to the medication you can then react to products on the skin, even your favourite products.
It doesn't mean that you are allergic to them forever, it just means that you have to simplify your routine for now. Instead of using five or six skincare products you go back to basics and only use two.
If you're using Liz Earle or Elemis, just choose a cleanser and a moisturiser - simplify your routine. When you've finished your treatment, gradually introduce your skin to all your other favourite beauty products.
It's been a hectic few weeks here are QVC Towers, but I was able to take some time out to delve into the world of Liz Earle and her naturally active skincare range at this year's Beauty Bash.
I've been listening to your beauty dilemmas and have put together a whole host of video clips to answer your questions. They will be posted every week, so keep checking back.
Q. Hi Alison, I have quite thick cuticles and have cut them off in the past. I've just started using nail envy and avoplex oil but I wonder if you could suggest a good cuticle remover. Thanks, Maria.
A. For an excellent cuticle remover, you have to look for an AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) formula. We actually have a night time Avoplex formula - it's a fab exfoliator.
Continue to use the Avoplex Oil during the day, but before you go to bed rub in the Avoplex Exfoliator and leave it on during the night. It's got an AHA base in it, which 'nibbles' away at thickened cuticle. It takes down the cuticle without you having to rinse the exfoliator off. This will last you up to six months because you only need to apply a dot on each nail.
