Christmas is a distant memory now, so it's time to ditch the glitter polishes and show off a more elegant, chic shade on your nails perfect for the new year. Plus, the winter weather plays havoc with your nails so make sure you tend to them on a regular basis with strengtheners and cuticle oil.

hi Alison. My nails are usually very good, strong and grow quite long. But after wearing varnish a couple of times, taking of with remover they then start to split, looking awful. Could it be the remover that does the damage!Afraid of wearing false nails to tide me over because of what the glues may do.

Hi Alison
Please help I have purchased nail varnish and treatments of OPI, Leighton Denny and Nails Inc. I am really struggling as the polish is only lasting a few days the Chip Skip from OPI and the Brilliance Serum from Leighton Denny. I am using base coat and top coat and taking the top coat over the top of the nail, please help with ideas as what i can do to improve the lasting finish.

Hi Allison
Need your advice on my nails. I discovered OPI some 8 years ago through a chance meeting with someone in a well-known chemist who recommended OPI. Though I heard of OPI but didn't use the products until some 3 years ago. I do have all the treatments/colours/nail file in my Nail Kit. The problem is when my nails split, it splits further down the middle of the nail bed. I have used the OPI Nail Wrap though not an expert and it helps but why does it split in that way. I have had long nails as I often use the products but it still happens. I do admire your nails as well as Jilly and a few others. Should I eat jelly (not the Royal kind!), soak them in Almond/Olive Oil. Please, please, please can you help me out. Should I use a gell or silk wrap over them so as not to break./split them. May I'm one of those people who have weak nails. Calcium tablets any good? Look forward to your expert advice. Many thanks, Ciao Alison. Gloria Giraud from Wallington, Surrey.

I would like to thank Leighton Denny for his crystal nail files. My nails are very very hard and i used to cut them with clippers which hurt my nails. No more pain, i use the files to shorten and shape my nails. So thankyou Leighton
