Hubby and Stan

Ahhh, those summer nights!

Hello,

Well, I know it’s not officially summer until 21st June, but wow, it’s certainly felt like it’s already here in parts of the UK in recent weeks. I’ve had a lovely night away with friends in beautiful Henley-on-Thames since my last blog, and the weather was just glorious. After both being at work on the Saturday, my presenter buddy Chloe Everton and I headed off to join our friend Clare, a former QVC producer, all of our partners and three dogs (Chloe’s gorgeous Teddy, and Clare’s Stan and Peggy, two adorable Boston Terriers) at a hotel near the river.

with Claire and Chloe

We met up at about 4pm, and at 1am the six of us (plus canine friends) were still sitting outdoors in a pretty courtyard, having had a lovely meal and still chatting about life, the universe and everything. We had breakfast outside in the sun the next morning too before going our separate ways and it was just like having a mini-break abroad – perfect! Here are a couple of photos – that’s my hubby with Stan, who always make a beeline for him!

I’ve been shaking up my skincare routine a bit now that the nice weather’s here. Our lovely skin expert Abi, who brings us Ultrasun at QVC, has always said that we should wear sun protection on our faces all year round, or at the very least from March to September or October, but I must confess that although I’ve always worn high factor sun protection when outdoors over the summer, it was in the past more like June onwards. This year however, I decided to go for it and began wearing Ultrasun Anti-Pigmentation Face SPF 50+ daily back in March. And I mean daily – even on days when it’s been grey and raining and I’ve been inside all day, because those pesky ageing UVA rays can even get you through glass, and when it’s dull weather!

Ultrasun and Murad

I’ve been combining that with a retinol treatment every night, working my way through a few so far including the retinol serum from Murad and the collection Judith Williams does. I have to say that the results so far have been amazing – I’m normally one giant freckle in the summer and this year, while I’ve still acquired a few, the new pigmentation is WAY less than normal and I’ve noticed a significant reduction in my fine lines and wrinkles too. I’m stocking up on both Ultrasun and retinol products now (our beauty expert Alison Young tells me more are on their way to QVC soon!) as this is a regime I’m definitely sticking to. (Just a tip – I’ve got pretty tough skin and didn’t have any reaction to the retinol but some people need to build up gradually so be careful if you’re trying it for the first time.)

And staying with summer, we have another fabulous summery Today’s Special Value offer coming up on Monday 18th. It’s from Kim & Co and it’s a Brazil knit maxi dress with cap sleeves and a knot detail at the front. It comes in two lengths, regular and petite, and in six colour options – Aqua Multi, Black, Black Multi, Blue Multi, Lemon Lime and Poppy.

Kim & Co Brazil Knit Cap Sleeve Maxi Dress
Pieces made in Kim’s Brazil knit fabric have been bestsellers for the brand for the past twenty years and last year’s maxi dress was a sell out so I think we can expect more of the same this time round. Maxis really have become a summer staple and this one is light, non-crease and perfect for travelling, holidays and long hot days when comfort is key. Tune in on Monday to nab yours!

Stay cool.

Love Jackie x

    Hi Jackie,
That photo of your hubby and Stan is just gorgeous! They look like a little team. Lovely overnight had by all. Sounds great.
About the freckles, good to know, but I don’t know why people don’t like them?! They’re cute!
    Have a good weekend x

      Hi Susan,
I know, they love each other! I don’t mind a few freckles actually but the older I get the more they’re stopping being cute freckles and instead turning into bigger age spots so I’m trying to keep on top of them! You have a good weekend too x

Hi, it’s actually my friend’s dog, he’s adorable! I’d love a dog but we are both out of the house working for long hours every day so it’s not possible sadly…maybe one day!
