A wonderful time in Dorset!

Sunset Hello! Where did the half term go? It flew by! I know why it flew by for us, because we had a wonderful time away in Dorset, with a few days spent in one of my favourite places, Portland.

It's located a few miles out to sea (via the road along Chesil beach) from Weymouth. The picture of the sunset was taken on our last night there.

Lighthouse It was glorious; the weather was amazing, we were so lucky! No visit to Portland is complete without a trip to Portland Bill lighthouse! It used to be manned (I managed to bump into the original lighthouse keeper, who I could have chatted to for hours) but now it's modern day technology and automated! The view was epic and the coastline just glorious.

View from the lighthouse When we climbed to the top I managed to snap this photo through the lighthouse window. If you head to Portland I highly recommend a bite to eat at the Lobster Pot tea room/restaurant, just next door to the lighthouse. We ate there most days. They make the most delicious food and their legendary scones, which haven't changed since I was a child, are out of this world!!!

Poppies We spent most days taking in the views and walking for miles (although I think the perimeter of Portland is only around 12 miles or so!) On our last day I was thrilled with this photo of poppies which I've printed and sent to Mum. She loves her poppies!

I came back to QVC on Monday with 170 emails to open. It makes me sound very popular but most of them were 'group emails' so only around 6 or 7 were directed to me :-) I have a busy schedule ahead of me. I'm looking after a Liz Earle show this Saturday afternoon and on Sunday afternoon watch out for a very special Charlie Bears show!

Take care and see you soon

Charlie x

Ps. Quick question – wasn't there once a children's TV show about Portland Bill or is it my imagination??

Awww I loved Portland Bill! I think we’re about the same age so I remember it well! I’ll probably be singing the theme tune now for the next few days “Oh come with me to the rolling see while the weather’s calm & still and we’ll have some fun and laughter with the adventures of Portland Bill!!!……..” :o)

There was it was a bit like an early postman Pat, the only recollection I have was that it was shown on Granada and s about the lighthouse keeper, the island was Guillemot, the lighthouse keeper was called Portland Bill and the mainland was Dorset is so beautiful, the glory being it’s unspoiltness. Keep smiling Charlie

    Hi Charlie
So glad to hear you came to Portland, I often hear you talk about it on QVC. I am very lucky that I have lived here all my life and couldn`t imagine leaving. I was at the Bill only a few days ago with my family and it was a lovely sunny afternoon, even living here you forget just how lovely the views are. Glad you had a really good visit.
