These last couple of weeks seem to have flown by, it’s been really busy and lots of fun. I know I say it a lot, but I reckon I am SO lucky having a job I love and a wonderful circle of family and friends, all things I try never to take for granted. I also consider it a privilege that I can share these good times with you, so thanks for reading my blog!
Well, things at The Q are going well and its been a really buzzy couple of weeks. I launched Peony, Kelly Hoppen, Samsung, the Wisteria and this weekend’s Toshiba TSVs, and have been involved with many others – it’s such a buzz hosting the TSV and as I’ve said before, the launch especially can be nerve-wracking but a great rush!
I also loved the Craftwork Cards show recently with Julie Hickey who was so great to work with. And as you will know by now the wonderful Stephanie Weightman is coming back to QVC in April, excited? Me? Just a little!!!
As always, I’ve been ordering lots of fab products from QVC, lots of little wedding presents for my upcoming sister’s marriage and also treated myself to some calla lilies and orchids for home, you can see them in the photos – they look beautiful don’t you think? A friend of mine recently saw the orchids and said “you know, they are really hard to look after, don’t you?” – he went right up to them and even touched them and didn’t figure out they were artificial flowers, see Peony pass the test everytime!!
And one of the highlights at The Q last week was meeting Marcus Collins – what a great guy, he was pretty exhausted from all crazy promotion schedule for his single and album, but nonetheless he gave a brilliant performance and he was so courteous and friendly towards everyone.
Hope you like the photos of us all hanging out in the green room with him, on the photo of him and I, people have been saying we look like brothers – I’m glad they said that rather that you look like father and son!! Haha!
Another highlight yesterday was filming a promotion to launch the QVC gardening season and to begin celebrations for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this summer. QVC commissioned a sets and props company called Helix to design and build two scutputres of the Queen and Prince Philip with the ultimate bouquet of flowers for Her Majesty!
What do you think of them on the photos? Brilliant aren’t they?! They were driven round London yesterday morning which certainly grabbed peoples’ attention, then yesterday afternoon in Battersea Park I interveiwed passers by to get their reaction and also spoke to the creator Brian Dowling about the design process – fascinating stuff – look out for it on QVC over the next couple of weekends. In the photos you can also see the wonderful crew, we had a great laugh.
Outside of QVC I have been a social bunny as always; last weekend I was in Bath for my sister Ellie’s Hen night. I know it’s not tradition that a man goes to the Hen but my sister and I are really close and she said she wanted me there. Also, Lucy, the maid of honour assured me there were to be no strippers, L-plates or other more fractious Hen goings-on!
I figured if it got too girly I could just head back to the hotel anyway, so I had a get-out plan!! The girls had, during the day, been garter-making as their activity which they said was fun, but I didn’t join them for it. Then the evening was spent drinking in a VIP area of the beautful Edgar Buildings, then eating tapas at La Perla, a very stylish restaurant.
The following morning Ellie and I had an early morning walk together whilst the others slept in, then we all had brekky and spend some time relaxing in the beautiful hotel grounds before all heading off our separate ways. It was a really special time.
Since being back in London, whenever there has been some sun, I’ve been trying to make the most of it. Last week a few friends and I went to the filming of the Graham Norton show, it was the episode with Hugh Grant and Jo Brand, really great evening and beforehand my friend Alexa and I found the time for a quick glass of bubbly at the Oxo Tower, well it would be rude not to, wouldn’t it?!
Other than all of that I’ve still been doing my blitz with my personal trainer. I’ve managed to stick to all the exercise sessions, the challenge has been more the food – on the plan I’m allowed to ‘cheat’ 10% of the time, but I reckon I’ve been cheating a bit more than that!
For me though, food is one of the great pleasures of life, so I can’t be too hard on myself, can I?! Also, I treated myself recently to the cook’s essentials Sweet & Savoury Dipping Selection and it’s soooo delicous! The sweet yellow chilli dipping sauce is so good with fish to really add some zing and the butter toffee dipping sauce on yoghurt with a handful of flaked almonds is just pure heaven!!! Yum!!
What have you been up to recently? How has the weather been where you are? Are you looking forward to the summer and all its festivities?
My next blog will be after my sister’s wedding which is next weekend, so I promise to pop some photos up then. And thank you so much for all the well wishes you have been passing on to my sister through my Facebook page (Craig Rowe QVC Presenter) and Twitter (Craigrowe_TV)
Lots of love and have a great week!!
