A week of celebrations!

18

Hi all,

It’s been a very busy, very fun week! First, we had the return of Ruth Langsford at work, starting with a two-hour show. We had great giggles and some gorgeous fashion to chat about – I absolutely loved my Onjenu jumpsuit and thought Ruth looked fabulous in her mock wrap dress.

We will be back every Thursday at 9pm (and on the 28th September we’ll have another two-hour show from 9pm) so please do join us! Ruth is doing Strictly of course this year so we’re getting all the inside gossip on that too…

On a personal note, I was a little sad on the weekend of the 9th because I should have been doing another 100km ultra marathon event that day, and had been hoping to beat my time from the one I did last year. Sadly my ongoing back problem means I had to withdraw, which was incredibly frustrating, but I’m really hoping that next year I can try again. My back is slowly getting stronger and rushing it would be foolish so I made the right decision, but it was so disappointing.

However, every cloud has a silver lining, and as that weekend was our 23rd wedding anniversary, hubby and I decided to have a lovely weekend away instead! We spent two days being tourists in London – ate tapas in Borough Market, walked along the river, shopped in Covent Garden, looked at vintage yachts in St Katherine’s Docks and had a glass of bubbly in the bar in the Shard (what incredible views!).

I can’t believe it was way back in 1994 when I, then a local newspaper reporter, married a handsome young doctor in beautiful Jersey. The years have flown by and here we still are – a little older, probably not much wiser and, in my case, a lot blonder! We had a wonderful weekend and I feel very lucky to have shared my life with such a great man for so many years.

Just one more thing to share with you this week – and it’s a bit of a celebration for Dyson! If you’ve been thinking of getting the Dyson hairdryer, on Beauty Day here on QVC on Sunday we have something VERY SPECIAL for you. It’s a special edition purple/nickel version just for us at QVC and you can preorder it now (and it’s on four interest-free easy pays with zero p&p too). The show will be at 2pm and I’m so pleased to be presenting it because I love this hairdryer so much. It’s definitely a considered purchase and as I’ve said before, when I was first given one to try I really didn’t want to like it because of the price. From the first use I was blown away (excuse the pun!) and now I simply can’t imagine being without it – the drying speed, the reduced damage to my hair, how it looks and feels and sounds, everything! So if it’s on your wish list, do tune in on Sunday.

I’m about to take delivery of a treadmill for the garage (I’m renting one for a few months so I can carry on with my back problem rehabilitation at home) so I will stop writing now and see you soon!

Stay gorgeous.

Love Jackie x

      Hi Lynda,
We lived in Jersey for three years (hubby was working at the hospital and I was a reporter on the Jersey Evening Post). We got married in Grouville Church. Beautiful!

    Hi Jackie,
Happy belated anniversary! Lovely photo of you both. You are very lucky to share your life with a great man indeed. Great idea to rent a treadmill for a while and I hope it helps the back. I can’t believe you’re still thinking of doing another ultra marathon!!!x

      Hi Susan
Thank you! I may be being over-optimistic but I’d really love to do a few more long distance events before I hang up my trainers…we will have to see how the back holds out over the next few months, fingers crossed!

Hey, Jackie, what a lovely surprise to hear you read out my Niod neck elasticity review on Saturday! Funnily enough I too have one hooded eye and one not. Try it…I promise you it will definitely even up your lids! Best, SheMag

      Hi!
How funny! I’ve already started trying it, so fingers crossed! So weird that only one is hooded but I suppose our bodies generally aren’t quite symmetrical. Good to hear from you.

Hi Jackie lovely post. My hubby and I love jersey, is your hubby from there. Beautiful island. We had our honeymoon there and then went back every year for many years. Hi Mary, thanks for the kind words! Hubby is not from there, no – we were actually living in Jersey when we got married. He was a doctor in the hospital there and I was working on the Jersey Evening Post newspaper and we got married in Grouville Church. I love the island too and we still go back quite often to see friends. Lovely choice for a honeymoon! We went to Florida and it rained a lot…should have stayed in Jersey!
