A Trip to the Fair City!

Four years ago Austen & I got married at St Chad’s Cathedral in Birmingham. It was the most incredible day of our lives. So I thought I’d share one of the best photos from that day with you.

So to celebrate we decided to head back to Dublin, which is where we had our ‘mini-moon’ after the wedding. Despite me being rotten-dogged by a hideous cold (which is refusing to budge) we had a super time. Food and the craic was the order of the day.

I originally booked us a hotel but then I managed to find a nice apartment through Air BnB smack bang in the middle of the iconic Temple Bar area, at £50 cheaper than the hotel mind you #result.

We had a terrific anniversary dinner with Austen’s sister and her hubby at The Little Kitchen. And a bit too much wine and prosecco! Hic!  The next day we hunted down some traditional Irish stew at The Oval Bar in town after a quick mooch around the shops (it rained all day. Booooo!) That night we had a delicious tapas-style meal at The Chameleon, an Indonesian restaurant. If you like Thai and Vietnamese food then you’ll be in love here too.

Aroma and flavours in abundance with pork belly, chicken satay, lamb curry, spicy fish cakes all accompanied with fluffy rice and stir-fry vegetables. Lip-smackingly good. We topped our Friday night off by revisiting the magnificent Oliver St John Gogarty Bar.

We went there on our mini-moon visit and I knew we had to go again. We weren’t disappointed. Fabulous traditional Irish music, a good old laugh led by the host who kept cracking jokes about us coming from Birmingham. Wonderful musicians. A room packed full of happy tourists. Dublin was wild that night. End of the month, pay day and Hallowe’en Weekend, people were out dressed in spooky costumes.

Dublin, you were awesome, despite my hideous cold and chesty cough trying to sabotage the entire trip. If you’ve not been to the fair city then you MUST MUST MUST try and visit.

Wow! What a gorgeous bride and what a wonderful trip! I am proper hungry after seeing those photos! I’ve not got to Ireland yet, but seeing that makes me eagerly anticipate a visit!

I can’t wait to smell that new #SweetOrchid fragrance from Elemis. As you know, I love Frank Usher jewellery too!

I hope your cough has budged by now, but if not, try Potter’s Cough Remover – available at all good health food shops and leading chemists. A few days and nights on that should stomp on that cough for you!

Much love…Jill & Canine Partner Nesta (near Peterborough). x

Hi Nichola – can’t believe we were in the fair city at the same time – we could have had a quick drink together! Did you manage to dodge the rain showers?? Hope so. We can’t wait to go back – did you have a good time?

HI Sandra – cheers so much for commenting. That lovely rose bouquet was put together by my amazing friend, Debra. She’s a gardening addict and took me to the BIrmingham Flower Market to choose those lovely Dutch roses. She should take commissions but she just does it as a hobby for friends sometimes. I love her to bits. really made the day so much better – inc the boy’s buttonholes xxx

I love your wedding dress, you looked gorgeous! I haven’t been to Dublin for about 10 years but always had a fab time. Do they still have all the cows along the riverside?

Hope you’re on the mend from the nasty lurgy now, and don’t let anyone online upset you.

    Take care.
