As promised on last week’s blog, there will be a competition to win all of these beauty goodies later on in my blog, but I thought I’d start this week by sharing a funny episode last Saturday evening.
My other half was working, so on my way home I decided to call in at Sophie’s, my daughter. I had fancied Thai green curry but there was nowhere in her vicinity that did it, so we settled on pizza. She ordered one that we had previously tried, with goat’s cheese, rocket and chilli oil. It arrived in good time but minus the rocket and chilli oil, two key components – one would have thought.
I would probably have just settled for it, but not Sophie!
She was straight on the phone and five minutes later, not only did we receive the missing rocket and chilli oil, she had also talked herself into a credit note for a free pizza next time she orders. Hold on a minute… I paid! Sophie’s cat, Milo, was hanging around hopefully for pizza, which he didn’t get, but we did let him get inside the paper bag the extra ingredients arrived in – he really has a thing for squeezing into small spaces.
Before I had left work on Saturday evening, I saw Jackie Kabler with some flowers and a ‘Happy Birthday’ balloon from a ‘secret’ admirer. She hadn’t told us it was her birthday week, so I said I would make her some cakes for the next day – I have no idea why she was surprised that I actually did what I said I was going to. I topped the little fairy cakes with pink champagne truffles – I know how Jackie likes a bit of fizz.
I didn’t take all of them in for her, so we were able to enjoy the remainder as a treat on Sunday night.
I had my CML hospital appointment this week and, I’m happy to report, the professor was pleased with the results from my recent blood tests. I took this picture at the train station in the morning before heading in to London.
I posted it on Instagram and had a hundred likes – thanks to everyone who has made me feel so welcome on there, I’ve had more than five hundred followers in less than a fortnight. If you would like to follow my life in pictures, my Instagram account is @juliagroberts, but I can’t promise to update as regularly as some people – if truth be told, I’m far better on Twitter, @JuliaRobertsTV.
Well, as mentioned, this week I am giving you the chance to win some beauty goodies. Originally, I was going to have a caption competition, as I did on the Facebook Live book launch party on my JuliaRobertsTV page, but I thought you could caption this photo of me (taken backstage at the Teatro Apollo in Barcelona in 1976) just for fun and I’d set a multiple choice question for the prize.
Please keep the captions clean (or we can’t print them) and be kind – I’m well aware that it’s not exactly the most flattering photo ever taken of me, although on Instagram everyone thinks I look like Catherine Zeta Jones… really?
All you have to do is post A, B or C in a comment on here before next Thursday midnight, and we’ll pick the winner next Friday.
Competition has now closed – keep an eye out for future giveaways.
So, as people have commented that I look like Catherine Zeta Jones in the photo, the question is:
Which TV show launched her career?
A) The Darling Buds of April
B) The Darling Buds of May
C) The Darling Buds of June
Visit our website to see our Standard QVC competition terms and conditions, and good luck!
I must dash as I have Fashion on Friday with Kim & Co in a few minutes but while on the subject of Kim fashion it is also featured in next week’s Look of the Week, as you can see below…

I think I’m going to order the floral maxi dress – very pretty!
I’m not in for the next five days but I won’t be relaxing as I have my mum staying, so lots of baking and chatting. I’m also looking forward to reading some of her short stories and she is looking forward to reading Alice in Theatreland – if you’d like to check out my latest book, go to my website www.juliagrobertsauthor.com
Have a great weekend,
