He acted all innocent and shrugged his shoulders. As I came downstairs from taking my make-up off with my Emma Hardie Moringa Balm, the doorbell rang.
I wasn't really that surprised to see Sophie standing there but I was surprised to see her carrying a cat basket. She had mentioned that she and her flatmate Gilly were considering getting a kitten but I wasn't expecting it to happen quite so soon.
We carried the basket into the lounge and closed the door, a) so that the kitten couldn't escape and b) to keep our cat, Poppy, away.
You might think we were being mean to Poppy but actually we were keeping her away so that she wouldn't be scared of a kitten less than half her size! The kitten was quite happy to come out of it's basket and have a nose around, amazing since the girls had only got him that morning.
He is jet black and as you can see from the photo he has rather large ears and beautiful eyes. What you can't see are his feet which are also a bit on the large side so I suspect he may grow into quite a big cat. He is so small at the moment that he cuddles up inside Sophie's furry Dennis Basso hat – almost like a nest. He did quite a lot of playing and exploring and was then spark out for an hour or so.
We did bring Poppy into the room to meet him and she was quite good if a little on the nervous side. Hopefully the more he visits, the more she will accept him. The girls hadn't had chance to think of a name for him so they were just referring to him as 'no name'.
I suggested Wilfred, in honour of the Crystal Palace player, Wilfred Zaha, who was called up to the England football squad the following evening, but the girls settled on Oskar which I must confess, suits him better.
Talking of small animals, lots of you have been asking questions about the Panda bracelet/watch that I have been wearing for the last week. I can reveal that it is, of course the Butler and Wilson Today's Special Value, launching tonight at midnight with myself and Simon Wilson.
The watch is also available in two other options, the colourful owl and the iconic skeleton head but my favourite is definitely the panda.
I hope you can join Simon and I at midnight tonight and we are also on together at 8pm tomorrow, although I suspect the TSV will be long gone by then!
Enjoy your weekend!
Much love Julia xx
