What a lovely week I had last week! I had a few holiday days to take, so hubby and I decided to escape to the sun for a few days, and flew off to beautiful Santorini in Greece.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such spectacular scenery – it’s part of a circular archipelago created after a massive volcanic eruption more than 3,000 years ago, and the whole area is just breathtaking – a caldera, or cauldron, of calm, almost lake-like water, dotted with rocky islands with hotels and homes clinging to their cliffs.
We were only there for six days but had glorious weather and fabulous food – heaven! Now I’m ready to fully embrace autumn, which seems to have arrived with a vengeance. It’s always nice, if we can, to treat ourselves to some new clothes or make-up when the season changes, and a new lipstick is often an affordable treat – so have you seen our October Beauty Pick of the Month?
It’s a set of three gorgeous Moxie lippies from Bareminerals, with a choice of Bold & Bright or Nude & Neutral. We’ve had some fun at work with badges putting us in “Team Bold” or “Team Nude” – I must admit it was a close call for me, but I finally plumped for Team Bold. Three gorgeous, bright shades to bring a pop of colour to a grey day, and no P&P to pay this month either. Love it.
I’ve also been enjoying a brilliant new addition to my conservatory this week, courtesy of our fabulous gardening department. It’s the Plants2Gardens Streptocarpus Crystal Ice which is supposed to flower all year round, which is kind of amazing. It’s certainly got plenty of flowers on it at the moment, and it would make a lovely gift for someone who loves flowers in the depths of winter. So pretty. I’ll test it out over the next few months and see how long those flowers last!
I have a few hectic weeks coming up now…work, of course, is getting busier and busier as Christmas draws nearer, and I’m looking forward to presenting lots of fun festive shows. Meanwhile my second novel The Deadline – number two in my murder mystery series, the Cora Baxter Mysteries – comes out this week, so my days off work will be spent doing a few promotional trips to various parts of the country over the next little while. Here’s a photo my publisher sent me of the new book with the first one – I’m so pleased with the cover!
This Friday the 21st I’ll be doing a signing at a bookshop in Cardiff, and I also have a library visit in Walsall, another book shop appearance in Cheltenham and a literary festival lined up. You can keep up with my book stuff by following me on Twitter or on my Facebook author page.
I always love to hear from you, so do get in touch – if social media isn’t your thing, you can leave a comment under this blog.
Onwards into autumn!
