Well I hope all’s well with all – I’m back into on-air action last week after a family week away before Ali and Jack returned to university.
We were lucky enough to spend a week in Javea, Spain and the weather was fabulous. The week didn’t go without incident as you may have seen on the news, there were sadly some serious forest fires, literally half a mile from where we were staying.
We were very fortunate, as the strong winds changed direction during the night, meaning we weren’t evacuated, but unfortunately many local residents and holidaymakers were.
On a brighter note, before we went away Ali, Jack and I spent an enjoyable day at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo and I captured this lovely shot of their new baby Asian elephant Elizabeth, born in June and named after Her Majesty in honour of her 90th Birthday. It’s not the best photo I took on the day, but elephants have always been close to my heart having worked closely with them when I was a teenager and I love the way the herd look after their newest member.
I’m not a huge novel reader, unless I’m on holiday, when I love to get stuck into a great page-turner or two – typically, it’ll be an historical action theme involving Romans, Celts or Medieval knights! Not 50 Shades of Grey then Dale!
I used to fill my hand luggage with three or four paperbacks but now take my trusty old Kindle. I’ve had it for quite a few years now and I love it! They’re brilliant. They’ve also developed quite a bit since I bought mine, and on Friday we’ll be offering a mouthwatering upgrade for my trusty model in the form of our Amazon Kindle Paperwhite E-Reader Today’s Special Value. This shiny new model comes complete with a builtin reading light and a protective case.
Speaking of mouth-watering, on Thursday Catherine Huntley and I have a three-hour gourmet trip around the British Isles. We’ll be featuring excellence from around the UK with our fabulous food brands, many of whom are multi-award winning such as The Real Pie Company, who will have the honour of providing the “Dish of The Day” Today’s Special Value offer, a 14 piece savoury pie selection!
Catherine and I both love our food, although clearly I appear to love it a little more…
I’ll start off proceedings and Catherine will take over for hour two, and then I’ll reappear after a quick lie down to finish up! It’s bound to be busy! Not only Brett and Christine from The Real Pie Company, but Gower Cottage Brownies, Joe & Seph’s, The Original Cake Company, H. Forman & Son, Simple Simon’s and introducing some exciting new brands to our screens – Hope you can join us!
‘Til next time, stay well-read and fed!
