If you were following all of our news and gossip live from LA during the Oscars, you would've heard the latest from ShowBiz editor, Chrissy Reeves who went along to LA to report back for us!
Here is her story of what it is like to be in LA during the Oscars…
"With my LA dream now at a close, I thought I’d sum up my final few days in the city of angels and – despite a severe lack of sleep – what an incredible week it was!
In fact, it’s safe to say that I’m truly hooked on Hollywood. But before you go thinking I’m about to turn into one of those stereotypical juice junkie, yoga-loving LA types, I may have been reluctant to board my jet plane at LAX, but by the time I’d got through customs at Heathrow, I was ready to brace the minus temperatures, ditch my sunnies and return to normality…
After my starstudded QVC party which saw me schmoozing with the likes of Nicole Ritchie, Heidi Klum and Miranda Kerr and heading to uber exclusive club Soho House for more schmoozing at a Warner party with Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and Oscar-winning star Ben Affleck. After such a starry 24-hours, I didn’t think Tinseltown could offer me much more, but how wrong I was!
The next day, on the eve of the Oscars, I headed for a massage, lit a Neom Sensuous candle and smothered my skin with my Elemis marine cream (maybe I’m more LA than I thought!) It was the perfect mix of ingredients to kill off any telltale signs of a hangover to get me red carpet ready for the Mont Blanc/ Unicef pre Oscar brunch held on the terrace of the uber chic Hotel Bel-Air.
One of the first stars to catch my eye was the stunning Hilary Swank dressed in a stylish white cocktail dress showing off her A-list body to perfection.
Hilary was guest of honour and what a swanky brunch it was! I had a brief chat with hot actor Billy Zane and after seeing Leonardo DiCaprio the night before, I half expected Kate Winslet to walk in any minute to make up a whole Titanic sandwich!
After tucking into pancakes and smoked salmon bagels, all washed down with the finest champagne, I chatted to some of Hollywood’s biggest movers and shakers. By 4pm I headed back to my hotel with a definite spring in my step (perhaps I’d had more champagne than I thought!) to hang poolside with Eddie Redmayne and his girlfriend on the sunbed next to me, looking just like loves young dream!
On the way up from the pool I shared a rather hilarious lift chat with The Artist star Jean Dujardin who was amusing himself by dancing along to his mobile phone. I couldn’t help but crack a smile but couldn’t hide my annoyance by the time we got to the tenth floor!
Tonight’s the night! And after a jam-packed day of interviews, there was hardly time to get ready, but luckily I had the red carpet ready prep down to a tee so after a blow dry, I smothered myself in Well-rested face and eye brightener, then donned a new pair of Jemma Kidd lashes (how had I not discovered these before, I do not know), applied a fresh coat of OPI’s Big Apple red, popped on my Jenny Packham gown and I was ready for the off! I didn’t even flinch after getting a double take from Liam Neeson on the way to our car – I’m clearly getting used to this red carpet malarkey!
By 4pm, it was as if an electric current was injected into Hollywood and the 70-degree sunshine meant that the whole city was paved with gold, just in time for the most exciting Awards ceremony of the year. The Four Seasons foyer was buzzing with women dripped in diamonds and floor length gowns all waiting for their chauffeur-driven cars so I headed to the bar for a quick Bellini whilst waiting for my Rolls! I eventually arrived at the Beverly Hills Hotel for The Night of 100 Stars viewing dinner to an ocean of paparazzi.
The hotel is one of the oldest and most famous residences in Hollywood and I’m feeling like quite a regular after Tova Borgnine invited me up to her suite for champagne there just a few days before! Stepping into the party, the whole place was filled with the crème de la crème of old-school Hollywood and with so many previous Oscar winners in the room, I suddenly felt quite starstruck.
After enjoying a champagne reception among such showbiz royalty we were ushered in to the grand ballroom for a live stream of the Academy Awards whilst tucking into a four course feast – the perfect way to line the stomach before we head into the 21st Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar party. I went in convoy to Elton’s with the lovely star of The Blind Side, Quinten Aaron and as we arrive at the Pacific Design Centre we’re transported into celeb stratosphere!
The first stars I see are True Blood stars, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer who looked super loved up and hardly left each other's sides all night. Anna gave to birth twins last year but you certainly wouldn't know it judging by her tiny waist! Inside I am transported into one of the grandest marquees I’ve ever seen! With five different rooms to discover, I make a beeline for the very impressive bar to calm my butterflies and as I order a glass of champagne, I’m suddenly very aware of the figure beside me and soon realize it’s none other than Britney Spears, who even commented on my ‘cute’ accent!
Looking stunning with her new raven, the combination of her break-up diet and post-split hair has seen her look her best ever! As my fellow revellers tucked into a banquet of delicious culinary delights, courtesy of legendary chef, Gordon Ramsey, there was everything from crab quesadillas to huge bowls of macaroons and other sweet treats – it was like I’d walked straight into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory!
Natalie Imbruglia was another familiar face, now I’ve always had a style crush on the former star of Neighbours, and she certainly didn’t disappoint dressed in an angelic white Grecian number. I was then stopped in my tracks with a hypnotizing performance from Brit award-winner Emeli Sande which had practically everyone rushing to the dance floor – that woman can really sing!
But I was suddenly side-tracked by funnyman Jim Carey who was sporting rather ginormous giant feet next to me… only in Hollywood! Stepping into the cool air, I spy American Pie’s Jennifer Coolidge having a cheeky cigarette and I suddenly had an urge to be Stifler’s mum, if I look like anything like that good at her age, I want a bit of whatever she’s having!
Back inside I walked straight into the Kardashian sisters, Kourtney and Kim. Kim was rocking her pregnancy curves all in white – does that woman ever have an off day? No wonder Kanye can't get enough of her, perhaps seeing her dressed all in white will prompt him to whisk her down the aisle sometime soon? Now that would be some wedding!
Nicki Minaj and Kelly Osbourne were two more damsels dressed in white. Kelly had come straight from reporting on fashion on the Oscars red carpet for E! Channel, and they seemed to spend most of the night tweeting pics of them kissing party host Elton – it’s good to see stars get starstruck too!
Earlier in the evening Elton and David brought their adorable son Zachary to the party who was suited and booted just like his famous parents. The proud parents couldn’t help smiling from ear to ear and they had a lot to smile about, after all they raised a record $6 million for Sir Elton’s AIDS Foundation.
Back at the bar, Chris Brown was happy to pose for a picture and for a split second I felt just like Rihanna! The star was in great spirits – despite being the subject of one of Seth MacFarlene's jokes during the ceremony talking about his assault on Rihanna – he even complimented me on my dress so I told him his suit wasn’t bad either!
But as the clocks struck 3am, it was time to sling my Laboutins over my shoulder and call it a night, but there was still just one place left to go… In And Out Burger (if it’s good enough for Britney it’s good enough for me!) and the drive-thru Burger joint was the perfect way to curb my late night munchies – you can take the girl out of London and all that!
And so, with my Hollywood experience having come to an end, I have just one more thing to say, Oscars 2014, I’m coming to get you!"
