This week was a little out of the ordinary, though, with a glamorous trip to the London Coliseum just behind Trafalgar Square to rub shoulders with a host of red carpet A-listers at the British Fashion Awards. The evening was like the BAFTAs for fashion and everyone was there – all the top designers and models, of course, and also names such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Harry Styles and Samantha Cameron, with Jack Whitehall compering the evening.
I was escorted by my QVC mate Miceal, who has recently completed a course at the London College of Style and passed with flying colours. He managed to get a couple of tickets and thought I might enjoy going along with him. He was right!
The dress code was simply ‘British’ and of course, with my Wednesday Morning Style show giving me inspiration, it also had to be ‘QVC’ for me. So, I wore my beautiful Helene Berman coat in English mustard yellow (couldn’t be French mustard, darling), Clarks high heeled boots, a Lola Rose scarf, Lulu Guinness bag, and a Yong Kim dress – not British, I know, but I love it!
There were so many gorgeous women in classy, outrageous, or outlandish fashion. As we mingled with a glass of champagne before the ceremony began, my eyes were out on stalks with so many stunning people to ogle (although I must say, Miceal’s eyes were even wider than mine!).
I’ll leave the details of who-won-what to Miceal – he has already posted his entertaining account of the event on his QVC blog so do check that out. It was great to spend an evening with him, lovely gentleman that he is.
We revelled in the glitz and the glamour, inhabiting – just for a few hours – a world that I would expect to only be able to read about.
Back to reality now, of course, but actually…that’s where I’m happiest!
Take care, and try not to stress over Christmas! (Wish I could take my own advice!)
