In the words of a famous sitcom "Listen carefully, I shall say this only once" (must of course be said with a dodgy French accent), I am really truly very sorry for my lack of blogging over the summer months. I know we all have busy lives but really it's no excuse.
It's one of those scenarios whereby you think to yourself… "I really must blog" and then the weeks and months go by before you get around to it. It's funny really, it's usually when there is some news that you want to share that prompts you (well me anyway).
Earlier today we had great news that Danny (that's hubby for those of you that don't know) became an uncle for the first time. Well technically he is uncle to my niece but you know what I mean. His sister who is 17 years younger and lives in Australia had a little boy.
I remember asking my mother-in-law years ago before my wedding, was there any particular reason she waited 17 years after Danny before having another child. She gave me one of those looks as if to say "You don't know him very well yet do you?" Only joking!!
It's great news though as they have all been having quite a tough time since his dad was diagnosed with cancer last year. He really has been through the mill the poor man, but he should be coming home in the next week or so and hopefully things will take a turn for the best.
What else is new I hear you ask? Well I'm still Zumba-ing away and loving it. I have been banned from it for the last couple of weeks though by Danny. This is on account of me completely losing the plot and entering myself for the London half marathon on Sunday. What a complete joke!! Me run? Never done it in my life. Can barely run a bath!! I honestly think the last time I ran anywhere it must have been after the ice-cream van as child for a "99"!!
In the words of my husband upon discovering my intention "Listen love, just because you can wiggle your hips and hop from one foot to the other doing Zumba, doesn't mean you can run 13.1 miles ". Having said that he is now my biggest supporter and I have overheard conversations he's been having about me doing this and he sounds really proud. No pressure then!!!
He does a lot of marathons up mountains and a whole host of other crazy challenges, which to be honest, I reckon you have to be slightly unhinged to get involved in, but he does know what he's on about training wise. So in the last couple of weeks Zumba has had to go in order for me to rest my wee pins between runs and avoid injury.
I honestly cannot wait for it to be over. I ache like you would not believe. The amazing thing is that I'm not out of breath. That's definitely the Zumba!! But I need some younger legs!! So folks, if you come across any before the weekend drop me the item number.
I do hope you're all well and not too upset with my lack of contact. In the words of the schoolgirl version of me from yesteryear… "I promise to try harder in future". Take care you lovely lot. And yes I know, what a cheek I have but.. it'd be lovely to hear from you so do get in touch.
Lots of love
