A million apologies!

Hi everyone,
In the words of a famous sitcom "Listen carefully, I shall say this only once" (must of course be said with a dodgy French accent), I am really truly very sorry for my lack of blogging over the summer months. I know we all have busy lives but really it's no excuse.

It's one of those scenarios whereby you think to yourself… "I really must blog" and then the weeks and months go by before you get around to it. It's funny really, it's usually when there is some news that you want to share that prompts you (well me anyway).

Earlier today we had great news that Danny (that's hubby for those of you that don't know) became an uncle for the first time. Well technically he is uncle to my niece but you know what I mean. His sister who is 17 years younger and lives in Australia had a little boy.

I remember asking my mother-in-law years ago before my wedding, was there any particular reason she waited 17 years after Danny before having another child. She gave me one of those looks as if to say "You don't know him very well yet do you?" Only joking!!

It's great news though as they have all been having quite a tough time since his dad was diagnosed with cancer last year. He really has been through the mill the poor man, but he should be coming home in the next week or so and hopefully things will take a turn for the best.

What else is new I hear you ask? Well I'm still Zumba-ing away and loving it. I have been banned from it for the last couple of weeks though by Danny. This is on account of me completely losing the plot and entering myself for the London half marathon on Sunday. What a complete joke!! Me run? Never done it in my life. Can barely run a bath!! I honestly think the last time I ran anywhere it must have been after the ice-cream van as child for a "99"!!

In the words of my husband upon discovering my intention "Listen love, just because you can wiggle your hips and hop from one foot to the other doing Zumba, doesn't mean you can run 13.1 miles ". Having said that he is now my biggest supporter and I have overheard conversations he's been having about me doing this and he sounds really proud. No pressure then!!!

He does a lot of marathons up mountains and a whole host of other crazy challenges, which to be honest, I reckon you have to be slightly unhinged to get involved in, but he does know what he's on about training wise. So in the last couple of weeks Zumba has had to go in order for me to rest my wee pins between runs and avoid injury.

I honestly cannot wait for it to be over. I ache like you would not believe. The amazing thing is that I'm not out of breath. That's definitely the Zumba!! But I need some younger legs!! So folks, if you come across any before the weekend drop me the item number.

I do hope you're all well and not too upset with my lack of contact. In the words of the schoolgirl version of me from yesteryear… "I promise to try harder in future". Take care you lovely lot. And yes I know, what a cheek I have but.. it'd be lovely to hear from you so do get in touch.

Lots of love

Anne xxx

    Hi Anne!
Oh you do make me laugh…how could we ever fall out with YOU!? You’re wonderful! You really are one of my fav presenters!! You are looking wonderful too so all that running and Zumba is doing you wonders. I cannot believe you are doing the half marathon!! Well done you! You and Debs F (her wakeboarding!) are going bonkers with your adventures!! Such spirit! I did adore your sleevless slash neck gold top you had on the other day on a makeup show. You do wear such lovely elegant clothes. I am so sorry to hear about Danny’s Dad. Such hard times a lot of us are continuing to go through. But your spirit is amazing as I’ve said. You’re clearly a fabulous family. Lovely news about the bambino too!
    Take care and chat soon

    Hi Anne
Good luck for Sunday I’m sure you’ll be fine. Just updating you from your last blog. If you remember I was not getting on with Zumba-well I did persevere but sorry to say it wasn’t for me. I don’t think it helped that I came down with every illness under the sun and could not give it 100%. I am now fighting yet another Virus-great start to Winter!
Sorry can’t help you with new legs-you certainly wouldn’t want mine at the moment-or the constant coughing and sneezing!
    Take care
    Juie xx

    Hi Anne
So lovely to see you blogging againx Lovely to hear about Danny becoming an “official” uncle but so very sad to read about his father – it is so true that God gives with one hand but can take with the other at times – my best wishes and love go to your whole family and hears to the blog were you tell us all that Danny’s dad is in remissionx- or at least feeling better. How is your brother keeping? I heard you mention on air recently that you were going back to the spa in December – it is so important in this busy life to give yourself me time – i hope you enjoy itx Well blow me down, a half marathon, your one brave lady but your looking great in both body, face and spirit at the moment that i think you’ll be fine – take it easy thoughx I had a ball watching and buying from QVC on your last birthday weekend – the four easi-pays were just too tempting – i bought the Leighton Denny TSV(your nails looked great with Zero Gravity(light grey) on(you usually go for the reds-grey was a nice change) and i laughed when you told us about your manicure visit the day before it sounded so girly(i love such get togethers)my favourite colour in this TSV is Saturn Seduction(dark red)i didnt expect to like this one before receiving my TSV. I also bought a few(three) of Leightons kits i had been looking at for the last few months(four easi-pays swung it) – i also bought the BE night treatment(not delivered yet) i’m looking like “death warmed up” in the mornings now and am hoping that the treatment, apart from helping my skin, makes me look a little more human in the morning and when i take my makeup off in the evening – why is it that the doorbell always chimes when we dont have makeup on and when we do no one visits!!I’ll let you know how i get on with the BE night treatment. Lovely speaking to you again Anne, look after yourselfx Are you presenting the Zumba TSV launch coming up soon?- i had a ball last time dancing in my lounge at gone 1am in the morning(loved itx) I’m still Zumbaing(love it even if it didnt help with shaping)-glad to read your still Zumbaing tox I am so impressed with your Danny doing marathons up mountains – sounds absolutely fabulous-you go Danny.has Danny climbed all the Munroes? I’m loving your new blonde look(you had a ball with Ken Paves recently)you really suited some of his pieces – be brave and wear them on air as you really suit them. Weather in Glasgow is absolutely awful(nothing changes eh!!) we really never had a summer except if you count last Friday(it was glorious-no rhyme nor reason?) Looking forward to your next blog(no pressure eh!!) Love Linda Glasgowxx

    Hi Anne
Well done to you for being brave enough to do a half marathon. I get out of puff just running up the garden to bring the washing in, when it’s raining. All the best

    Hey Linda from Glasgow !!!
Love reading your comments. You come accross like someone I wish I could say “stick the kettle on, Linda, I’ll be round in 5 minutes for a wee chin wag !!).
Really looking forward to the next Zumba TSV ON the 19th. I expext you to stay up and strutt your stuff with me, hen!!!
Not sure I’ll be wearing any of the hair pieces. I do love them but I’m not as brave as some of the others. Maybe one day.
Danny’s mountaineering adventures are hysterical. I told him last night someone was asking about which mountains he’d climbed in Scotland. Well he only appearesd 5 mins later with a complete log book of all his conquests (that’s mountains ofcourse!!) Anyway in Scotland I know he’s done Ben Nevis several times as well as Cairn Gorm. There are a few others but I can’t remember the names. My 14 year old Jon goes with him sometimes. They have a great time together. They’ve done also several others in Europe including Mount Olympus(twice the size of ben nevis), and the Dolomites. Dan’s also done Mont Blanc, kilamanjaro and has just returned from some trip in the Amazon (that’s south america and not the online bookshop!! ha ha :)!). Probably his most impressive is a marathon a day over 5 days 15,000 feet up Everest!!
I think he reckons with my latest exercising spurt, that I’m going to join him on one of these little jaunts. Words like freeze, hell and over spring to mind. In any order you want Linda.
    Take care my love

    Hi Bev,
I know for a fact that at the start of this year I couldn’t have run for a bus if it had been sitting at the bottom of my drive waiting for me!!!! Hopefully that answers your next question regarding how good zumba is. For me personally it’s been amazing. I have loathed exercise all my life but zumba? Another ball game completely. Love it to bits. Watch the TSV at midnight on Tuesday and maybe you’ll get a better idea of what it’s all about. It has been responsible for so many changes in my life since February when I started.
    Stay in touch Bev

    Hi Christine,
Loved your funny wee comment about running to bring the washing in. It reminded me of growing up in Glasgow and how rotten and lazy my sister and I were trying to prtend we hadn’t noticed when it was raining and leaving the washing out in the garden. Mum used to go nuts!! I can vaguely remember thinking ” don’t really know what the fuss is about, just wait till the sun comes back out and it’ll dry again!!” What was I on?? Sun, dry, in Glasgow?? Anyone would think that I had an extensive wardrobe or something !
    Take care

    Hi Anne,
Just saw you on with lovely Ouida today and firstly, you need that dress you were wearing! It was gorgeous on you! Lovely different animal type paintbrush effect dress. Second, I finally worked out where that stunning black jacket/top you wear comes from!! I adore it and it is amazing on you!! You really suit black.
Hope you had a good week.

Hope the running doesn’t do you any harm – I see you’re scheduled to host the Zumba TSV launch. I’m really looking forward to it. Inspired by your achievements when you presented the last one, I purchased right there and then and have to say am so glad I did. I’d been watching what I eat and trying to be more active but not until Zumba (five times a week from the DVDs) did I start to really tone up and get fitter. I surprised even myself (I have asthma and have probably used it as a bit of an excuse not to get too active!) a few weeks ago when I ran up three flights of stairs at St Pancras tube station (and I was carrying shopping bags at the time!) without even a puff or a wheeze. While I’m still far too shy to shake my booty in public at a class, I do love to do it at home and really enjoy it – the first time I’ve actually looked forward to getting hot & sweaty (if you see what I mean …) I feel healthier, fitter, more toned & more confident. The only disadvantage is that all my jeans are now at least a full size too big!

Just had to send you a comment re the BE night treatment – i’ve been using it for around a week now and love love love it. Ali Young is my beauty guru – has been since 1995 – and due to her i use premiumn skincare(and makeup) ranges – Elemis,Decleor and Liz Earle, so didnt think this treatment would make a difference – well – i was wrong,my skin has a new radiance to it and my pores(which due to Elemis’s Tri-enzyme range)was good anyway are visibily reduced(disappeared in fact!!). Also it feels so good when applied after my skincare routine – gives my skin a lovely colour. When i bought this i – thought it would not make any difference to my skin – it would feel like wearing makeup to bed and it would just come off onto my lovely white NN bedding – i was proved wrong on all counts. I’m seriously considering trying the rest of the BE skincare as i think there is something in this “soil complex” formula – i know you went to the launch so will know what i’m talking about. Please Anne, practice, with the Ken Paves pieces as you really suit them and remember you’ve got to be in it to win it eh!! and your on a winning streak at the moment. Watched you yesterday morning presenting the Ronni Nicole range – loved the dress you were wearing(i hope it found its way to your dressing room – for research purposes only you understand!!) Speak later Anne Look after yourself Much love Linda,Glasgowxx
