A hi-tech doorbell and a smartphone offer

I hope all is well as always. Our builders are making steady progress and consequently we are having lots of deliveries to our house at the moment – this leads me nicely into letting you know about an exciting new piece of technology for your home.

Following hot on the heels of the launch last weekend of our special edition Dyson Supersonic hairdryer, this Friday we’ll be showcasing an equally exciting product that you may have seen featured in TV adverts recently – I refer to the Ring Video Doorbell.

Of course, doorbells have been around for years, and video entry systems also, but what makes the Ring Video Doorbell so different is the fact that you can answer your door from anywhere using your smartphone. It stands on guard 24/7 with it’s HD camera detecting any motion front and side in a wide 180 degree angle – immediately sending a notification to your smart phone or tablet when it senses any movement, plus should any genuine callers press your Ring Video doorbell, you’ll be notified immediately via a ‘ring’ notification to your smartphone or table, allowing you to answer and hold a real-time two-way conversation, even if you’re upstairs, at work, out shopping or possibly on your hols! It even does this at night using built-in infrared night vision LEDs.

All you need is a Wi-Fi network and smartphone or tablet (Apple iOS, Android, or Windows 10) and away you go! QVC is offering a special bundle which also includes the Chime Pro, which serves as both your internal door chime (with a variety of different chimes to choose) and as a Wi-Fi signal extender (if needs be) for your Ring Video Doorbell. If you’d like to keep your videos of doorbell activations, you can subscribe for a small monthly or annual fee via the Ring app, and your videos can then be shared or downloaded from the Ring website (this is of course optional).

Setting up the elegantly-designed Ring to work with my home Wi-Fi was a simple matter of following the prompts on the Ring app. Installing the doorbell itself was also a breeze. Ring even include a tiny spirit level, drill bit and security screwdriver to fix the backplate – you need to supply the drill and about 5/10 mins of your time, and voila! There are ways to fix the backplate that don’t use screws – depending on where you decide to fit it – options are discussed in the guides and in app videos.

I replaced my old wireless doorbell with the stylish Ring and opted to utilise it’s rechargeable battery option. I can check battery status at a glance on the app.

I’ve made a short video showing how responsive the Ring is – don’t worry the caller didn’t run off with my dog and I don’t usually use my phone in the Shower 😂. But I wanted to demonstrate that whilst I was in the presenter lounge at QVC towers in Chiswick, my daughter Ali pressed the Ring Doorbell installed at my home (some 25 miles away) and just look how quickly I was able to respond in real time using my iPhone’s data, whilst she was still on the doorstep! You’ll also hear Jackie Kabler’s genuine reaction at the end.

I’m delighted to be presenting the Ring Doorbell after midnight this Thursday with the star of the TV adverts and inventor of the Ring Jamie Siminoff. Jamie came up with the idea and first ran it past his wife – she loved it! Not just for the obvious convenience but for the security of being able to safely answer the door from anywhere. She said “it’s like caller ID for the front door”.

We have a great bundle offer and watch out for Easy Pays as well.

As exciting as the Ring is, it isn’t the Today’s Special Value offer. That honour goes to the Archos Helium Smartphone.

The Archos Helium 5.5″ Smartphone is both SIM-free and dual 4G SIM-compatible! As you might guess this means you can take advantage of having 2 SIMs from different networks. Perhaps one for work and one for personal, or one for UK and one for abroad etc. Featuring a stunning 5.5 inch High Definition screen, an 8GB rear camera, and there’s a front one for your selfies! There’s 16GB of memory on board but you have the ability to increase the memory via a microSD card slot. A quad core processor keeps your apps running smoothly using the Google Android Marshmallow Operating System, and as you’d expect it’s both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled. Available in a stunning Pearl White at an amazing Today’s Special Value price – you’re probably thinking how many hundreds with those features – right? Well think again – our TSV price will be comfortably under £90 and available in Easy Pay instlaments!

I hope you can join James Murden and myself at midnight this Thursday, and stay on with me to watch the first presentation of the amazing Ring Video Doorbell! Ding-Dong!

Until next time… stay well connected and mobile

Dale
