My blogs have sort of got out of sync as this one should have come before the Olympics one, but I had to blog about those great games, whilst I was on cloud 9 (wherever that is?!)
Just as both I and the rest of the country have started to come back down to earth after London 2012, we can now look forward to even more British medals at the London 2012 Paralympics and there are stories around that they will be the first Paralympic games to sell out! Brilliant if that's the case. We like sell-outs on QVC, as it tells us we got it right in terms of product and price – if not stock levels!
I mentioned in my last blog that we managed to get away to Spain for a couple of week in July – we had a wonderful time with very high temperatures. It's the first time we had holidayed on the mainland and as much as I like the various Spanish islands; there's a lot to be said for the mainland – including much lower costs.
I'd never really thought too much about it before but generally the cost of eating out was considerably lower than we experienced 2 years ago when we last visited Menorca. The place we rented was looked after by two lovely ex-pats, Roy and Delia, who lived next door and made us feel right at home, I'm sure they do this for everyone but it may have helped that Roy particularly liked to tune into Home Electronic shows on QVC!
We stayed in a relatively remote urbanisation surrounded by fruit farms and dry rugged mountains beyond. The arid, beautiful scenery was reminiscent of that seen in an old Western movie. That's not as strange as it might seem, as Sergio Leone shot his iconic Spaghetti Westerns close by in the Tabernas Mountains, (Dab Nabbit! Shoulda been Paella Westerns! You pesky coyote!), and scenes from 'Cleopatra', 'Indiana Jones', 'Lawrence of Arabi' and 'Dr Zhivago' were also filmed there.
So we led our own version of the movie star life for two weeks, namely relaxing by a pool, reading loads of books, listening to music and generally chilling out – lovely! For some of my friends this would be purgatory, they want action, excitement, night life etc. – but hey, each to their own!
This Sunday night (26th) I'll be launching a brand new Honora Today's Special Value with my 'Silver Fox brother from another mother' flying in from across the Atlantic – Ralph Rossini. For those new to Honora Pearls, they bring exquisite freshwater pearls to QVC, using only the top 3% of the pearl harvest for their inspiring jewellery.
I know Ralph has a soft spot for the UK and he always tries to bring us something very special! Monday's TSV lives up to that as Ralph introduces a brand new Blush Bronze Pearl Bracelet, hand-finished by skilled Italian craftsmen. This is our first ever Honora Blush Bronze TSV, and as I know the stock is quite limited, please try and join us at midnight Sunday into Monday if you can.
Until next time,
