A fun afternoon at the Smartfest

Craig surrounded by Smart cars at Smartfest Hi there, hope you are well,

I had a fun Saturday afternoon a couple of weekends ago – my friend Angel and I went to the Smartfest 2010 – a festival dedicated to Smart cars!

It was such fun, there were thousands of Smart car owners there, hence thousands of Smart cars, all with their own personality and as varied as their owners.

Besides music and a great atmosphere, there were competitions for "Best Dressed Smart", "Best Modified Smart" and "Best-kept Smart" – it's amazing how much effort people go to to make their car so different and special.

Craig and Angel admire the winning 'Best Modified' Smart car You can see Angel and I by the winner of the "Best Modified" – a Smart car that had had the roof completely removed and was all souped up in the style of a Ferrari!

There was also displays from the "Silver Arrows" – think of the tricks and displays the Red Arrows do and translate that to incredible tricks on the ground in Smart cars… at one point they even played a football match "kicking" the ball around the race ground with the Smarts; there were a couple of bumps in that game I can tell you!

I also met a few QVC viewers whilst I was there, fellow Smart owners too, so you can imagine we had plenty to talk about!

Angel with her favourite Smart car Hope you like the picture, my friend Angel standing by the car we voted should win "Best Dressed" – I think she had her eye on it! And do you know they actually use Smart cars as police cars in Rome?

Have you been to any festivals this summer? Do let me know in the Comments box below, I'd love to know what you've been up to!

Craig. x.

    Hi Craig
I’m loving the pink smart car, definitely for us girls. I bet your friend Angel so wished she could get her hands on the keys!!.
The police in Rome drive like maniacs but there again everyone drives erratically, even in The Vatican City. There’s no regard for fellow road users or pedestrians. The only time there is any regard for safety is when a group a nuns are crossing the road!!. It’s funny to watch.
Also saw quite a few smart cars in Monaco parked up near the palace where Prince Albert resides. I guess they can negotiate the small streets but they don’t look very comfy especially if you’re tall.
Unfortunately haven’t been to any festivals or concerts this year. My best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of the year so it’s been diffficult. We’re hoping however to have a late holiday to Jordan in November – fingers crossed.
Anyway wanted to wish you a happy birthday and hope you had a fabulous day. Enjoy your shows, your enthusiasm shines through. Keep up the good work.
    With best regards.

    hello Marlene
thank you so much for your comments on my blog.
Surprisingly the little Smartcars are comfy even if you are tall – and they are so nippy and fun to drive!
Thanks for your birthday wishes and your kind words.
And sending you and your best friend very best wishes and lots of love and positive energy. I do hope you both get to enjoy that holiday you are hoping for.
I am co-hosting the Breast Cancer Care event on QVC and feel very privileged to be doing so, it is such a wonderful event for such a great cause.
    Big hugs,
