Just wanted to share with you a wonderful evening I had a couple of weeks ago with the queen of cupcakes (and my beloved friend) Lotte Duncan.
I've known Lotte for several years, she's one of those people I just connected with instantly and we have always had a great friendship; we're there for each other in good and not so good times.
I'm also really proud of Lotte because after years of thinking about her own book, she made the commitment, got a publisher and worked solid for a whole year and now has her first book is out there for all to see and enjoy!
I actually pre-ordered my copy so I was one of the first people to have the book, hot off the press from Amazon and about a week later I nipped over to see Lotte at her gorgeous cottage in Buckinghamshire and got her to sign it for me. I had told her how I was worried about getting butter/flour/eggs all over the page so in her signing she kept me permission "to get it messy and cover it with drops of gin and splashes of sauce!"
The book launch itself was about a week later and was such a fun night, Lotte hosted the event and had invited family, friends and devoted fans. We all celebrated with Lotte, champagne was flowing, cupcakes (baked by Lotte of course!) were munched and those who hadn't already bought the book had a chance to do so. The party was held at the Bookhouse in Thame, a wonderful independent bookshop who really are an inportant part of the community and with such a welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
The book itself is beautiful, inspiring, funny and delicious! More than a cookbook, yes it has recipes (my favourites are Daisy's steamed chocolate and almond pudding, and crunchy nutty chicken with chilli jam) and it is well written, the photography is stunning and you really get a taste of food, life and Lotte's cottage and garden through a whole year – with stories, recipes and anecdotes.
Hope you like the photos and will join me in congratulating the very special Ms Duncan!
