You may remember that I mentioned in my last blog post that I was going up to Lancashire to a weekend crafting workshop that Dawn Bibby was holding in her shop? Well, what an amazing time was had by all!
My friend Angel and I arrived on Saturday lunchtime, just in time for the afternoon's crafting session. What a great atmosphere as we walked in! We received a huge welcome from everyone, and I had a quick tour round the room saying 'hellos' before we got down to some serious crafting. Angel has never crafted before, but she got stuck in and was soon making her first ever handmade card – she loved it!
After an afternoon of hard crafting it was time for a quick freshen up and change before we headed off to a fabulous Christmas meal, complete with party hats, turkey and a real Father Christmas! During the evening there were lots of prizes to be had for the best card and favours box (yes, Dawn insisted we keep on crafting, even during dinner!), plus a quiz and raffle that seemed to provide a never-ending stream of prizes!
It being a Christmas party, of course we all had to hit the dance floor. I was in my element, 'shaking my thang' with Angel, Dawn and any of the crafting ladies who were willing. By the time this photo was taken I had my tie wrapped around my head – very Rambo indeed!
On Sunday morning we all visited Dawn's shop. I loved it there, and it really showed me just how busy Dawn is – not only running a successful shop, but also all the 'behind the scenes' work she puts into preparing for the QVC shows.
The shop was buzzing with ladies stocking up on craft essentials as well as getting great inspiration for their next projects. I also bumped into the lovely Liz from Crafts Beautiful magazine while I was there.
In the afternoon we got back to the workshop and more hands-on crafting. Dawn and her team had laid on 10 different tables, each one with a different technique so you could dip into whatever style of crafting you fancied. I really got into the flow of things, though I only managed to get round four tables – but that probably had more to do with too much talking and not enough crafting!
After the workshop finished Dawn and her hubby JJ took me, Angel, Paula and Dawn's pal Gerry out for a fab Italian meal. It was good to see Dawn relax after such a busy week at QVC and manic weekend; even though we all know she loves it and is so passionate about her craft, it was great to see her switch off for a bit.
On Monday we got a guided tour of the area by JJ while Dawn packed for Tuesday's QVC show. After a lovely lunch in the village we were lucky enough to visit Dawn's home and got to meet the famous Lucy, Arnie and Charlie (the dogs) and Presley and Freddy (the goats!). Then it was a late night journey back to Battersea so Dawn could get ready for the next day and I could launch the Czech cooker TSV.
It was a wonderful weekend and I do hope you enjoy the photos – and if any of the lovely ladies I met are reading this, then big hugs!
One final thing – I'll be showing you the cards I made at the workshop on the next craft show I present – I think you're going to be impressed! And do please get in touch, just post your reply in the Comments box below.
