Diet ChefYou might have been following my progress with Diet Chef. I would recommend it to either kick-start your healthy eating plan for 2014 or use it as a diet in the long-term to make a big change in your life and help you lose weight safely.

For me it worked, and even after I stopped last week, due to the lessons I’ve learned, I’ve lost another 2lbs in weight! Woohoo!

    My EX husband recommended the sachet powder diet meal replacement plans, 3 a day, I was only a stone or two overweight, but as he was a doctor I took his advice, worst decision EVER! great, the weight came off, but of course it went straight back on afterwards and then some! and it made me weak as a kitten – Don’t Do these!!!

    The worst diet plan I tried to follow was to totally avoid anything containing ‘fat’ (because ‘fat’ makes you fat!)- so normal meat, fish and dairy, even nuts (basically all proteins) were out, plus any processed foods – so I was trying to function on fruit and vegetables, and even then bananas, avocados and potatoes were forbidden,(though I now know that they don’t actually contain any fat !). After a week of ‘hell’ my hair, skin and nails were all dull, I couldn’t concentrate and felt generally awful. At that point I really didn’t care whether I’d lost weight, I just desperately needed ‘real’ food! Now I’m more informed I know that certain fats are necessary and a more ‘normal’ diet plan will work much better!

    To stop eating sugar, you then get sugar cravings, and eat a whole box of Cadburys roses. Just take everything in moderation.

    The worst diet tip I was given was to eat boiled food. Unfortunately it was impossible to maintain and I dropped the diet within weeks and put on all the weight I had lost.

    to just eat chocolate for a whole day – which is supposed to make you sick of it and never touch it again! Doesn’t work!

    Pin a picture of a grossly overweight person by the biscuit barrel so you won’t want to look like that.WRONG!!!!It had the reverse effect on me..I looked at the picture and thought ‘I don’t look like that’ so I had a biscuit!

    Hi maverine im in my early forties and definitely been a yo yo dieter and would love to try this has many diets are far to boring and I just cave in .one diet was to eat just cabbage and just the thought made me ill .I have been thinking of trying diet chef has in no way looks boring .so if you choose me it may be the answer to my diet disasters thank you for listening x

    The worst diet tip? Chocolate is made from Cocoa, Cocoa comes from a tree.
    Trees have green leaves, greens are part of our 5 a day! Therefore chocolate is part of our five a day!

    Only eat one large meal a day – and I was told it didn’t matter WHEN I ate it – but I was only allowed water during the rest of the day. Needless to say, I didn’t follow this advice. I went to my GP, was sent to a dietitian, and took their advice instead. I’ve already lost 5 stone – 1 more to go!

    The worst diet TIPS ever given are when friends say “oh I used such and such a diet pill” have lost count of the different ones I’ve tried and none of them work, just slimmed down my bank balance!

    The worst diet I was foolish enough to try was the cabbage soup diet. Whereby you only eat a homemade cabbage soup. It tasted quite nice for the first day, but boardam soon crept in and the windy side effects weren’t pleasant!. Whats more I also talked my mum and dad into doing it with me. You can only imagine the smell in our house!!!!!!! Diet chef sounds like a breeze compared to this. Xxxxx

    In the 70s I tried a cottage cheese and black coffee diet. I tried it for 2 weeks, felt starved the whole time and lost very little – I now cannot face any cottage cheese or black coffee so would not reccomend it. Diet chef sounds much more sensible and not boring as there is a variety of choices to try. Thanks.

    The worst diet tip that I was ever given was too Avoid fruit as Sugar makes you fat. Yes processed sugar is bad for you but really, Avoid fruit!! Also the myth that you should chew gum. If you chew too much gum it can make quite a few healthy foods seem unpalatable. In my mind any ‘fad’ diets should always be avoided. So I eat fruit and don’t chew a lot of gum and try my best to eat a good range of stuff. What I would really like to do though is to get on to the Diet Chef diet as this is all portion controlled for you (which for me is the hard bit)and it is tasty varied and healthy. I am thinking about starting ordering some of the curries. I tasted on my friend had and they are yummy. Thanks Sue – Avid QVC fan.

    I was once told to hold my breath for 10 seconds after each mouthful of food!
    Didn’t work, my food always ended up getting cold and I got A LOT of strange looks when eating out!

    The worst Diet tip I have been given is to work out or exercise on an empty stomach, as it burns more calories. The only thing that is guaranteed to happen if you followed that tip is to increase your risk of been ill or fainting. Needless to say I ignored it.

    I think for me. it was to take laxatives so you can’t store the food for too long. of course it fell on deaf ears.

    The worst diet i went on was the egg diet, six boiled eggs a day. only had 3 that was it no more.

    Just eat celery as chewing and swallowing it will use more calories than you’ll gain.Luckily I never tried it as hate celery!!!! I think I’ll stick to the Bodyblade and smaller portions!

    The worst diet someone told me about was not to eat any wheat based foods and dairy. I made sauces with rice flour and rice milk (yuk) and the bread was hard. Plus it was all 3 times the price, non wheat pasta was like rubber and It took me ages shopping as I had to read every label to see if it contained wheat or dairy! I ended up eating all salads, plain chicken and rice! Boring after the 5th day and I’d only lost 2lbs. I think that was with all the extra footwork going round shops looking for foods!

    Phew the worst diet I have tried was in the 1980s , the cabbage diet…. yep it worked… but made the whole house smell like yuck… and also when I went to the bathroom, had to have the window wide open, spray , bleach the bowl…. yep it really was a smelly horrible diet.

    Oh without a doubt it is a tip often brandished about – STARVATION – Yes, in one form or another many diets suggest you actually miss meals altogether, or even whole days, and don’t eat. Grrrrr this makes me so angry. We need good healthy food – hence why I am entering to win a Diet Chef Hamper :)

    Has to be the cabbage soup diet recommended to me by a friend years ago. The house stunk of cabbage and the small amount of weight I lost went straight back on too. probably didn’t help that I wasn’t a big fan of cabbage to start with!

    Avoid anything that begins with the letter C, so crisps, chocolate, cake, coffee, coke were all out but so were cornflakes, carrots etc. Initially seemed like a good idea but not sustainable.

    the worst diet i heard about was the colour diet where you could only eat food of a certain colour each day haha. My mum had the worst tip though, years ago when overweight & young, her doctor told her to take up smoking to decrease her appetite – OMG!

    a friend once told me you can just smell the food and it tricks your body into thinking you had eaten it.
    i was constantly starving and driven mad by gorgeous smells.
    i didnt lose any weight

    The worst advice is to give up things you love. Losing weight is all about lowering your calorie intake and doing more exercise.
    You can still have the food you love but in smaller portions.

    When on a diet the worst diet tip I was given was to skip breakfast.
    By mid-morning I was starving and had no energy, also felt low and listless, and started eating biscuits to pick me up and give me energy.
    I put on 3 pounds in weight that week.

    Hello Marverine, the worst diet tip I was ever given was to eat whatever I wanted, as much as I wanted and as often as I liked. But to eat everything with a dose of salts .. Epsom salts! This was passed on by a previous boss of mine who got into serious health problems from over using laxatives, so good that the only thing I took with a pinch of salt was her advice.

    The worst one I heard was that smoking cigarettes kerbs your appetite. This as in the late 80’s before it was widely known how bad smoking was for you. We bought a packet of cigs, lit them, coughed our guts up and subsequently ate loads of sugary sweets to get rid of the horrible taste.

    The worst diet tip I was ever given was to cut out potatoes, which I really love, but I thought I’d give it a go. It was a disaster because I was always hungry after a meal and would pick at biscuits to fill me up. Consequently, I actually put weight on instead of taking it off. I decided to put potatoes back in my diet and usually opted for baked spuds, which made me feel full and stopped me snacking.I even gave myself an occasional ‘treat’, so that losing weight became easier for me and gave me the incentive to carry on, and in 6 months I lost a stone in weight. I now eat healthily and exercise and feel great.

    Worst diet advice ever was to eat healthy during the week and then eat what you like at the weekend – a diet should be a life change and should be something that you have chosen to do not a starvation/feast plan…

    eat as much fruit as you like – fruit is great, good for you and delicious but some (bananas for example) do contain a lot of calories so again, it’s everything in moderation

    I was once advised to to only drink water and eat boiled eggs to lose weight! Keeping in mind the girl who gave me this advice once nibbled on a malteser in front of me while I shovelled a bucket load in my mouth!!!! That advice just didn’t stand a chance……

    The worst diet tip I have ever been given was to tie a piece of string around your little finger as this was supposed to be a form of reflexology that would stop you feeling hungry. Needless to say this tip certainly didn’t work It only made my finer go numb.

    i was told i could lose 5 pounds in one day on the pineapple diet. i lasted until 3pm then gorged on homemade victoria sponge and gained 3 pounds, also had a terrible headache, safe to say i won`t be retrying this one out again ;}

    Someone once told me that hunger is often mistaken for thirst so to not eat anything for breakfast n lunch and to just drink water when feeling hungry. By the time dinner was upon us I’d eat triple what I would normally. Just made u feel weak through the day then make up for it in the evening

    The worst diet advise tip I was given was the cabbage water diet
    Have you ever drank the stuff? I tried it for a day, soon gave up.it was rotten and I had awful pains and even worse flatulance. Id rather just eat sensibly and get some exercise.

    The worst I heard was my friend who had to chew each mouthful 20 times, she would buy fast food then think she would still lose weight still by doing this! It didn’t work!!!!

    Sooooo many to choose from, but perhaps the worst was, to buy clothes that are too small for you, to encourage you to shrink into them. Even if you manage to get down to that size, the clothes will be out of season and/or fashion by then.

    I actually new a man, who was in in forties, he was tall and slim (if anything underweight) anyway, he decided he needed to loose a few pounds and went on a nothing but grapes and hot water diet. He stuck to this and on the 4th week passed-out at work and ended up in hospital. It took another 4 weeks before he was well enough to return to work.

    The worst diet tip I have been given was my best friend who got me to try the almond diet. I’ve never been so hungry in my life, and I gained weight – almonds are great snacks, but having them for meals and with every meal gets boring, and boredom leads to chocolate!
    Would love to try diet chef, I’ve been dieting for the last 12 years and not found one yet that I can stick to for the long term

    I think the worst tip I was given was to substitute meals with glasses of water so instead of breakfast I would have a glass of water and the same for lunch but by dinner time I was so full of water(and so hungry) that I gave up !

    I was told by a dancer to eat some balls of cotton wool then drink a glass of water, before meals as the cotton wool would swell, causing my stomach to feel full, thereby not eating much actual food. Apparently, it is a common method of losing excess weight but not something I tried as I feel it is a dangerous thing to do.

    A friend I worked with lost weight with diet pills from the doctor, I tried them (not nice) I would not recommend these to my worst enemy and you still have to follow a diet anyway to lose weight

    Never good to crash diet. It ends up making you miserable. And colorie counting and weighing and all that stuff makes you more obsessed with what you eat. Best to eat healthily and get a hobby like gardening or walking the dog and not thinking about food too much, then see the weight burn off.

    I’ve been told to try the Beyonce Cayenne Pepper diet- maple syrup and cayenne pepper in hot water or something stupid like that and the Baby Food diet, jars of baby food for each meal!! I think I’d starve so I’d definitely lose weight but I don’t think I could function!!

    Not so much a tip but I got told that if I lost 3lbs in a week I would be kicked out of Weightwatchers. I was really upset and it put me off going back and I was doing so well as well. Would love to try Diet Chef so much.

    I went on a weird diet once on which you only eat hardboiled eggs, Ryvita and grapefruit. I did lose weight but I certainly wouldn’t recommend this!

    A friend recommended the ‘Creme Egg Diet’ in which you eat 5 creme eggs a day, and the weight would fall off.
    Sadly, she failed to realise that you eat the eggs INSTEAD of normal food, and she ate them AS WELL as her daily allowance…

    My mum saved me an article out of the supplement that comes with the Sun newspaper – the ‘No diet, diet’
    Pretty much eat what you want, McDonalds, chocolate and more and lose weight!
    If anyone have this a try I’d love to know if it worked! :-) x

    I tried meal replacement shakes, total of less that 600 calories a day. I was so hungry the whole time, light headed and nauseous. Yes I lost weight, but I could only stick at it a couple of weeks and as soon as you eat a proper meal you’re back to the weight you started!

    The worst diet tip that I have heard of is to eat just fruit and vegetables. You would think that fruit and veg. are healthy- and recommended by the government- so must be good for you. However, by restricting your food intake to only fruit and vegetables, apparently you can do your body a lot of harm, because lots of essentials are not found in these foods.

    Probably the worst I have had is don’t eat after 5pm. Most people aren’t even home at that time and it’s nice to share a family meal. Anything impractical when dieting or eating sensibly is not going to work. I since went to a weight loss group and it doesn’t matter what time you eat as long as you don’t exceed the correct amount or the amount recommended for weight loss. I have recently found myself on my own and not having to cook for someone else and I think it would be a great time to do something for me and try diet chef. X

    Probably the diet regime espoused by Helen Gurley Brown (the CEO of Cosmopolitan Magazine) in her book “Having It All” which I read about 30 years ago. Helen lived off her own HGB Salad and her ‘pudding’ was protein tablets. Even today the thought of chowing down protein tablets makes me feel ill!

    I tried many dieting tips while trying to loose weight,
    The first and worst was to ONLY drink milk, 6 DAYS of the week. And go for a 2 hour walk every day, while on the walk drink nothing. I ended up passing out after 3 days!
    The second worst one i tried was to eat nothing after 8am,(reminded me of the gremlins)
    Neither worked. Clearly :)
