Female hedgehog in the garden

A day out at Wimbledon and a garden visitor

Well another week has raced by!
I particularly look forward to this time of year with a sense of real excitement. Wimbledon Tennis! I was fortunate enough to get a couple of Court No. 1 tickets for last Friday and it was a fantastic day out. Strawberries, strawberry sundaes, hot dogs, popcorn, ice-cream, and of course tennis!

Tennic at Wimbledon court 1

The atmosphere was fabulous both on and off court. On Court Number 1 we caught the Williams v Kasatkina match. The play was superb – the only downside was the numerous stoppages for rain. Court Number 1 needs a roof! But even during the rain we had fun – it was another excuse (not that I needed one!) to go on the search for more food!

We stopped off at Henman Hill to catch some of the play from Centre Court as well. I’ll be entering the public ballot for next year and fingers crossed, one day perhaps I’ll get tickets for the final! On another note and another type of ball (they curl up into one!) we have a new resident to the Brook household… well, not quite indoors, more a garden resident.

Hedgehog in the night garden

Isn’t she beautiful?! This hedgehog has come to our garden on a number of occasions now and I think she may have made home at the very end where it’s extremely overgrown and rather wild! She is adorable and loves to snuffle through the grass very late at night in search of food! My Cairn Terriers are yet to meet her and to be honest I think we’ll be avoiding the introduction. I’m so thrilled to finally see a hedgehog in our garden, they seem rarer than ever these days.

Glancing at my schedule – I’m very much looking forward to a special three-hour show coming up on Tuesday 12th July from 2pm. Diamonds! We have a truly exquisite line up for you and my very latest jewellery design will feature on air for the first time too.

Also… watch out for lots of Easy Pay instalments offers as well; I really hope you can join me. It will be a very special three hour show.

Have a wonderful week, enjoy the tennis, and I’ll see you soon

Take care

    Hi again Charlie,
Glad you enjoyed the Tennis and oh the food as well.

I have been watching some of it on TV, let’s hope Andy Murray makes it through to the final.

Oh lucky you to have a hedgehog, I did see one back last year in the garden, maybe still about, now the shrubs are all growing up it is difficult to no what is lurking underneath. Yes you hardly see any about now, lovely little things.

Looking forward to the Jewellery show and your stunning bracelet,

    Love Jean.

    Hi Charlie,
We were at Wimbledon last Friday too, spotted myself in your photo (only because I knew where to look).
fingers crossed for next years ballot.

Glad you enjoyed the tennis. I was lucky enough to get tickets several times when I lived in Teddington. It’s a great day out.

I don’t want to rain on your parade, but please be very careful of your cairns. Hedgehogs are prone to ticks. I seem to have a hedgehog crossing through my garden. A couple of years ago my dogs got infested with ticks and I can only assume that the hedgehogs were the culprits.

So make sure that you treat the cairns with a combined flea and tick treatment and all should be well.

Hi Charlie, so pleased you enjoyed your day at Wimbledon. I was lucky enough to go myself but I was there Wednesday last week. Couldn’t believe my luck getting tickets for Court No 1 on my first attempt in the ballot! Sadly we didn’t see a lot of tennis due to the rain. We did see the conclusion of the match between Puig v Konta. Despite the weather we had a fabulous day out and a great experience. I loved tennis before but now I’ve been I can’t drag myself away from the action on TV.
So lovely to see the visitor to your garden I hope it becomes a regular visitor.
