A day in the life of interior designer Kelly Hoppen

Kelly Hoppen Ever wondered what it's like to be a top interior designer? Well décor expert to the stars Kelly Hoppen gave QVC an insight into her busy fabulous lifestyle.

Tell us about your daily routine

7am: my alarm clock chimes.
7am-7.15am: I take 15 minutes to sit quietly and focus myself, a mini meditation.
8am: I train for an hour every day with my personal trainer, as my schedule is so hectic that it is important for me to look after myself and my health.

Kelly Hoppen's work office 10am: arrive at my studio and meet with my PA Leila to plan the day ahead, work out our priorities and discuss any developments or issues.
10.30am: get cracking in my design room assisted by my assistant designers Tania and Lucy, and my design room assistant Emma. We occasionally surface for soya chai tea breaks.
Entrance to Kelly Hoppen's office building 1pm: lunch with my staff in our studio kitchen – its nice to all sit together and have a non-work related chat.
2pm: either back into the design room or an afternoon of back to back meetings with clients, property developers, licensees or journalists.
5.30pm: head home and either relax for the evening or head out with friends.

Kelly Hoppen's office alley way What projects have you been up to lately?

I am always working on multiple projects at any one time, be that designing my furniture or accessory ranges, developing my iphone app or new fragrance collection. The work at Kelly Hoppen Interiors is always very diverse.

How long does an interior design job take to complete?
It all depends on the size of the project – some jobs can be complete in a month where as others can be over a year in duration.

Who are your celebrity clients?
I have worked with many high profile clients throughout my career and as a rule I do not mention them unless they are happy to talk about our projects. I was thrilled with how happy the Beckhams were with their LA home and I am very honoured that they speak so happily about the work.
What's been your favourite design job so far?
I love every job that I design. I get a real kick out of the project handover moment when I show my client the home of their dreams.

How do aspiring interior designers break into the industry?
Gain as much experience as you can, don't be afraid to make mistakes and be prepared for a lot of hard work.

What makes the perfect day off?
When everything at work is taken care of and my mind can sit still, rather than racing through all of the things we have to do.

You can next catch Kelly on QVC TV at midnight this Wednesday (30th March) where she'll be launching her new Today's Special Value. Don't miss out!

I am a huge fan of Kelly Hoppen’s designs. The 600 thread count bedding is wonderful and I am trying to add to it with more Signature ( I want this one in both of my houses) but King size has been out of stock for months now. I would particularly like it in “smokey taupe”. Please , please could you get it back in stock. I will be watching on Wed. and have high hopes of being able to place an order,

Bought rhree in the kingsize – one for home, one for the pad in Marbella and the third for one of my residual properties. Such exquisite designs from KH – fabulous.
