Simon Wilson's birthday

A Butler & Wilson birthday

Dale's daughter dancing with Dale's daughterWhat I love about this time of year, is the fact that there always seems to be so much going on: holidays, local fetes, social events and, of course, loads of high profile sporting events.

Let’s not also forget birthdays! I was thrilled to be invited by Simon Wilson, of Butler & Wilson, to celebrate his XX birthday! It was a great party. My wife couldn’t attend, as she was recovering from a little op on her leg, so I was very proud to take my daughter Ali along with me as her replacement.
Dale and Alison Here she is pictured engaged in a dangerous dancefloor manoeuvre with Simon, as they grooved to Abba – apologies for the quality! (Of the picture, not the dancing!)

As well as family and friends, Simon had invited the lovely girls from his boutiques and QVC folk including: Julia, Emma from Backstage, Will I.T and partners.

Plus,of course, Ali Young – who kept me well-fed with cupcakes.

Simon with his cakeIt was a great evening, and towards the end we raised a glass to celebrate Simon’s special birthday and his wonderful hospitality.

In other exciting news, I demolished an old garden shed and put up a smaller replacement with my son Jack!

OK that’s not exciting at all is it?

But, there will be some very exciting news from the Franklin Camp in about a couple of weeks – so try and keep checking my blogs to learn more.

Hopefully, celebrations or counselling sessions for sixth form kids up and down the country have ended – it’s now the turn of GCSE parents!

I hope that all students got the results they wanted – but would also say to both students and their parents that not achieving desired exam results, whilst disappointing, is not really the ‘end of the world’.

There are always alternative routes to take that can lead to future success and there are many successful people in the world who can attest to that. Perhaps that means not following a chosen career path immediately; but hard work, enthusiasm, and a ‘can do’ attitude will usually lead to opportunities in life.

Coming up on The Q

On Friday at midnight I’ll be launching another first for QVC – our first ever Today’s Special Value vacuum from electronics giant Samsung!

It’s a fabulous new concept: a hybrid cleaner with motion sync design technology to create nimble movement. It features the ability to detach a second hand-held, individually powered stick to clean areas such as ceilings and stairs – without having to stretch a hose.

Both vacuums are bagless and there are actually three motors! One for each of the vacuums, plus a motorised brush-head. It comes with a Samsung five-year warranty and, obviously, QVC will be offering a mouthwatering price comparison for you.

Join me and Samsung guest James Murden at midnight on Friday into Saturday for more.

For jewellery lovers… Later on Saturday I’ll be with jewellery expert Mark Walker for a stunning hour World of Turquoise hour. Then, on Sunday I’ll be joined by renowned gold expert Jan Springer for a three-hour Gold Fever – with everything on 3 Easy Payments!

Until next time, stay safe and well

    Hi Dale,
Glad to hear that you had a great time at Simon’s Birthday party! Your daughter is beautiful and the photo of her with Simon is lovely. It’s a natural shot and good to see Simon looking so happy.
Like you, I do hope all young people have got the results they hope for. You are right though, it’s not the end of the world if the results aren’t what they’d hoped for. I’m in my 40s and failed most of my ‘O’ levels. It was horrible at the time but in some ways it was the best thing that happened to me as that apparent “failure” spurred me on. I wouldn’t recommend taking as long as I did but now in my 40s I thoroughly enjoy my work.
You take care and I look forward to hearing your news – I hope you’re not leaving QVC but that’s me being selfish!
    Beth Xx.

    Hi Beth
Thank you for your lovely comments ! Simon kept grabbing Ali and saying “come on you’re young – Dance the Night away !” Don’t worry I’m not planning on leaving just yet ! My little surprise will be revealed soon. I don’t like to get on my “Soap Box” in my blogs too often – but I felt I just wanted to say that poor exam results are not the end of the world and can sometimes be used as a catalyst to success – as in your case ! Thanks again Dale x
