A busy week off work…

It doesn't feel like I've been away, the last week off work flew by! As I mentioned in my last blog, it was a 'staycation!' – I wonder where that term originated? I only heard of it a year or two ago. I say staycation, I did pop down to see Mum and Dad on the Isle of Wight. Dad greeted me with the most wonderful roast lamb and roasted vegetables followed by a delicious homemade fruit salad (I had bowl after bowl… and then another bowl!!)

Whilst tucking into my feast Dad said to me… "I hope you don't mind but I used your shower gel which you left here from your stay at Christmas". I looked at Dad, my expression mildly puzzled, as I knew I hadn't left any, maybe it was my brother-in-law's? Dad carried on, "I'll be honest Charlie, it smells good but it doesn't foam very well…" I looked up at Dad while tucking into another slice of lamb. Dad reached into a cupboard and lifted out the shower gel he'd been using and passed it to me.

"This is yours, isn't it Charlie?" Dad said. I looked at Dad and replied, "You've showered with this?" He just nodded and now it was Dad's turn to look puzzled as I fell about laughing. "What's so funny?" Dad said. After a great deal more laughter I eventually calmed down and told Dad that he'd been showering with hair gel… hence why it didn't foam or lather! It was a speedy visit to the Isle of Wight but a very enjoyable and memorable one!

Looking ahead to next week, I have some wonderful shows ahead of me. Including South Western Silver this Monday 27th at 9pm and then Charlie Bears at 11pm… can't wait. The next day on Tuesday 28th I'm really looking forward to Ingersoll watches at 7pm as well. Hope you can join me. Take care and have a good weekend.
Charlie. x

P.s… Always worth reading and re-reading the label x

My late Grandad once shook Vim scouring powder all over himself after a bath thinking it was my Nan’s talc! She then followed him into the bath and used a cupful instead of a capful of bath oil and had to be rescued from the bath! So yes, Charlie, read and reread the label!

Hello Pam, that makes my dads use of hair gel look very very tame. It’s so easy to make a mistake when our thoughts are elsewhere…. Read and then re-read really is the trick isn’t it!
    Take care

Hello Rebecca, happy birthday to you…. Another year older as you say!! It’s funny isn’t it. When children we are so excited about getting a year older. Infact I remember being very precise with my age. If 8 years of age I would go a little further and proudly announce I was 8 and a half!
Take care and enjoy your birthday cake!! Mmmm

This is a funny story about my elderly Aunt (although not about reading labels). She always had a bath on a Thursday night and one particular Wednesday she started to run the bath for herself. She suddenly realised it was Wednesday and not Thursday and said to herself ‘ Oh you fool its the wrong day’ and she let the bath water out, to have her bath the next day!

Hello Gill, your story really made me laugh, Thank you. It’s funny how many of us like our routine and strongly resist any kind of detour, as indeed your Aunt did!
    Kind regards
