A busy time in the Halliday household

Jilly's daughter in PantoHi everyone,

Happy December! I hope the Christmas shopping is going well! It's funny how you think you are getting organised then suddenly it's mid December and there is loads to do!

My little girl is in Panto again this year, which is where it all started for me. It is a huge commitment as I have to take my turn at chaperoning the children and I'm often seen dancing in the wings! There is definitely life in the old girl yet!

The main chorus dancers must think I'm a little strange but there is something special about being backstage at a theatre during a performance, you can almost smell the anticipation of the audience! Now that is weird!

As if we haven't had enough going on, we have had my daughter's birthday where her and her friends went to a recording studio. Plus, we have had ballet exams, saxophone exams and several school meetings as my son has had to choose his options for GCSE! How on earth that has happened so quickly I really don't know, but at 13 he is now taller than me, has lost his last baby molar and sounds very deep and meaningful!

It's difficult to know what to get kids these days for Christmas. I listen to some of the little ones that get up on stage in the Pantomime and 'Muddles' asks them what they would like for Christmas and they all say iPods and mobile phones and iPads, which I think is a little sad. Although there was one little boy last week who said he wanted a star which I thought was lovely.

Meanwhile there are some great Christmas gift ideas at QVC this week with orders still guaranteed for delivery before Christmas. Don't miss Honora Pearls on Monday, a fab Lulu TSV on Tuesday and there is a brilliant set of 3 scarfs featuring on Thursday that would be perfect for gifts, you could always keep one for yourself! So happy shopping and here's to a stress-free Christmas.

Stay warm, Jilly x

    Hi Jilly!
I can echo your comments on “where does the time go theme”. My grand-daughter is fourteen next month, taller than me and has to bend down to give me a kiss! She too has had to choose her GCSE subjects and it doesn’t seem five minutes since I felt my heart lurch with love the first time I saw her two hours after she was born. In a conversation I had with my son this morning, I said how much I miss doing the things I used to do with my “Grangirl” She doesn’t need anyone to take her shopping these days or meet her from school, instead I listen to her sing at her voice coach’s annual concert and ,once again, my heart lurches, with pride these days.
    Have a wonderful Christmas Jilly.
    Best Wishes, Jan Burnley
