A brilliant night for Breast Cancer Care and a week of food ahead!

Breast Cancer Care nightHello, as I write this I'm sat with Misty and Bramble (our Cairn Terriers!) reflecting on what has been an amazing Breast Cancer Care show on QVC.

Thank you so much to all of our suppliers for their generosity, our wonderful guests, everyone who worked on the show, and to all our viewers who supported the event. It was yet another memorable evening, which was a privilege to be a part of. I was extremely touched when QVC approached me to host the event this year with Debbie.

If you would like to visit the Breast Cancer Care website for more information just follow this link.

I've had a few days off now and plan to catch up with some friends and family who are visiting for my other half's birthday! I'm looking forward to taking Misty and Bramble on some lovely walks, and if the weather is kind, my son has promised to beat me in a game of tennis!

Chewed book!I remember when he was very young, I'd give him a good chance to get some shots in and win plenty of points. Well, he's older now and I wish he'd return the favour!

On the subject of my adorable Cairns. They're in trouble this week! They managed to chew the spine of this book. Particularly bad as it's a library book! Oops! We've confessed and have offered to replace it (luckily we found one on Amazon).

I'm also in preparation for a selection of fabulous kitchen shows coming up this Monday 21st October (yes, I'm eating food in preparation!) I'm on air at 5pm with Gourmet Celebrations followed by Dine In with QVC at 6, a premiere show.

What are the chances of me eating plenty of food…? Mmmmmm, I wonder!

Charlie with the Bamix

Bamix recipe book

I'm particularly looking forward to an hour of Bamix at 8pm. I LOVE this product! It is like no other hand held blender I've ever used. Also, it comes with a great selection of accessories and I've really enjoyed trying out some of the recipes.

Charlie's biscuitsI'm not renowned for my home baking skills but it was so easy. This orange nut shortbread is out of this world. I'm making a Victoria sponge in the next day or so… If there's any left I'll bring it in to show on air. I can't promise though, you know how I love my food!

Have a look at this video my daughter made of the blender in action…

If you've enjoyed Destination Gems this year I hope you are able to tune in to the final show of this series on Tuesday 22nd at 8pm. I'm particularly excited as my very own design will be on air. I'm so pleased with how the jewellery has turned out!

Charlie's jewellery designThe sterling silver frame is front and backed with laser cut glass from Switzerland and filled with loose diamond. I drew the sketch earlier this year and Doug, our gem buyer, worked tirelessly with our suppliers to create the piece which, technically, is extremely challenging to achieve.

However, after many samples, and returning to the drawing board several times, we succeeded. I'm thrilled with how the design has turned out.

Now that I've mentioned all this food I'm feeling really hungry! I've no idea what's in the fridge or cupboard but it's time to go searching. There isn't anymore shortbread left, that I do know!

Take care and see you soon.

Charlie x

P.S. Do follow me in Twitter if you can. We have lots of fun behind the scenes at QVC and you'll get the latest antics of Misty and Bramble!

    Hi Charlie,
Yes another fantastic evening for Breast Cancer Care, so much is put into the evening with all the suppliers, presenters etc at QVC and not forgetting the super models. Wow what a lot of money was raised. It is for a really good cause. Well done everyone.
Charlie you mention food again, I did not think you liked eating (joke). Your shortbread looks delicious and you have eaten them all. Sounds as if the shows are going to be good.
I think you need to feed your two pup’s more often, they were so hungary that they eat the book. How embarrassing as it was a library book, good thing you found one on Amazon.
Will be watching the cookery shows, you really will not like what they are cooking.
Your jewellery piece sounds lovely, looking forward to seeing that, clever you. I have a silver heart which has some mother of pearl in, I am pretty sure that was one of your design’s, it is a lovely piece, I wear it a lot.
Anyway Charlie, enjoy your days off, and I think you should leave the game of Tennis until after the cooking.
Love Jean X Love to pup’s as well.

    Hi Charlie,
saw some of the BCC show, it was fantastic, your tribute to Amica was very moving. It was lovely to see the photo’s on screen again. Thank you QVC and all the suppliers for all your hard work preparing in the show and on the night, I know the money raised will be much appreciated.

Hello Jean, lovely to hear from you.
Infact, perhaps I should play tennis first, I may not be able to move after eating all the food ahead of me!
It sounds like you may have the mother of pearl heart I designed. If it’s set with swirls of silver and tanzanite that could be it! I designed that piece over 5 years ago now…. Wow, time has flown hasn’t it!
Thank you for watching our Breast Cancer Care show. The support and kindness of our suppliers and viewers was wonderful.
My two cairns say hi… Well, kind of, they’re sound asleep!
    Take care

Hello Janette, thank you so very much for your kind words.
I struggle to believe beautiful Amica is no longer with us. She was a very special friend to me and I know how she was, and always will be, held with such affection by you and so many of our viewers.
    Thank you

Hi Charlie and the QVC family. I just wanted to say what a fabulous tribute to lovely Amica. I am sure I am not alone when I say I did not know she had lost her battle. She has been a constant part of my QVC viewing until she was taken ill and I am truly sorry she did not make it. She was beautiful on the outside but also on the inside. I pass on my love and thoughts to her family and to the QVC team. Love from Ann x

What a great job you did on the breast cancer care night Charlie, but the most moving part was to amica and how the tears cameo! It was beautiful and so befitting of the gorgeous person she was. Obviously never having known her it is amazing just how someone can touch you, and I always loved seeing her on screen. Her warmth came across loud and clear, so well done to you for the lovely introduction you gave to the video of her.
Great to see your home baking, the shortbreads look very tasty! Enjoy the shows on Monday and look forward to seeing your new jewellery design on Tuesday night!
    Take care Diane x

    Hi Charlie
I too wanted to thank you and QVC for the lovely tribute to a really lovely lady. When you announced in your blog that Amica had lost her fight I was quite critical of QVC for not showing or not seeming to show that they cared. This was not you or the other presenters but some times big business gets in the way of how people feel. Amica was in some ways as much part of QVC as the presenters and having met her a couple of times she was a real credit to her family and friends. Always polite, happy and never impatient which in this day and age is quite something. Thank you for your lovely and sincere tribute and the film shown was exactly Amica. Happy and beautiful. This is how she will be remembered. Take care and once again many thanks

    Hi Charlie
What a brilliant night the Breast Cancer Show was, I was so moved by your tribute to the beautiful Amica, She was such a lovely and brave lady, I am not sure how old she was but seemed too young. Thank you again.

    Hi Charlie,
Just saw your beautiful tribute to Amica, gosh didn’t realise she had passed on. I knew she hadn’t been well and I really did think that she would beat the cruel C. She came across as a real lady and far far too young to have passed on. I am at work and it had me in tears, time to nip to the loo and touch up my makeup as my boss looking at me very concerned :(
