At the end of December I thought "I know, I'll get a quick 'New Year message blog' off to my copywriter Sarah – Well here we are half way through the month! Honestly, the times I've gone into work three hours before I'm on-air and still rush around at the last minute!
You see, the problem is – I like a chat, a chin wag, chewing the cud, a bit of goss, a catch up! Can't be helped, there's always someone interesting to chat to at the Q.
On Friday I was assisting our Talent Manager Tina with auditioning potential guests and I nipped into our restaurant for a quick bite to eat and saw Ralph Rossini (my Silver Fox brother-from-another-mother) sitting alone, so over I went and joined him with the intention of a quick ten minute catch-up chat.
Well, Ralph loves a chat too so about an hour later I looked at my watch, made my apologies and left swiftly! Luckily when I got back to the rehearsal studio I was relieved to see that nobody else had returned.
Fortunately, QVC first employed me for having the ability to 'chat' without a script or auto-cue. I'm rarely late for meetings and I am yet to miss a show but I'm often playing catch up, with things I planned to get done during the day, such as writing a blog!
So here we are: January! No sooner have we celebrated the big day and the end of a long year then we are racing off again to start the new year with a bang and make it another great year at The Q. In fact, QVC is a model of perpetual motion, a bit like an airport – it never stops!
Talking of which, this week sees the start of the first Diamonique Week of the year with an exciting range of both brand new and customer favourites. Affordable luxury and glamour is guaranteed and I'm lucky enough to be presenting most of the shows, the last one being on Friday 24th.
So if you want to see what all the fuss is about, or add another piece to your collection, tune in at 7pm through the week.
I hope that you have been lucky and safe with the weather so far – I can't remember so much rain for so long a period, but the memory does play tricks with you doesn't it? Winters were colder, not wetter, and summers were constant sunshine in our memories, like a scene from 'The Darling Buds of May' – or perhaps they just were?
I hear snow's on its way! That means I get to try out me Winter Trax properly – much better than tap dancing on a block of ice in the studio! It could be a new show idea "Dad Dancing On Ice" (as you can see in the pic at the top!)?
Finally, no photo comp this week but – I have a request for your HELP! Particularly viewers living in Bershire/Bucks/Surrey.
You may have noticed on Twitter that my friend and colleague Jill Franks has lost her beloved Bulldog "Scruncher". He literally vanished into the night whilst he was being walked along the Tow Path last Thursday evening (17/01) in Windsor, Berkshire.
It's believed he has been taken by persons unknown and I would ask anyone who lives in or around the Windsor/Slough area to keep a look out for him – I've attached a photo of him.
I know it's a longshot but poor Jill and her hubby Larry are devastated and desperately want him back, and you never know? Someone out there might have seen him or noticed someone with a new dog matching his description?
