A beaut of a weekend!!

Hi! I’m hoping you’re doing well this January and not feeling the bleak mid-winter blues.

I’m about one and a half weeks into my healthy regime and feeling pretty great! I’ve already lost five pounds and there’s not a sugar craving in sight! More on that in my next blog which comes out next Wednesday…

I’m feeling a tad bittersweet about this weekend. It’s QVC’s Beauty Weekend – the only weekend-long beauty event we do in a year! On one hand I wish I was working so I could be sampling all the new and exciting products, brands and collections we have coming to air but on the other hand I’m kind of glad I’ll be able to watch all snuggled up in my pjs from home! The cats won’t be too far from me and I’ll have a nice hot cinnamon tea on the go. If the weather is going to be as grim as it is today I’ll only be pausing for comfort breaks, ha ha!

So what’s got me so fired up? Well, I caught up with one of our beauty buyers, lovely Mary, who is also a self-confessed beauty addict, and she gave me a detailed low down on what’s coming. Here are some of the highlights but there’s sooooooo much more to look forward to…

The weekend’s theme is all about discovering beauty. Our buyers have hunted down some amazing new brands. One of them is Emani Vegan Cosmetics, our first completely vegan certified range. Melissa Peverini is the founder and will be on air and on hand with her expertise and advice.

Plume is another I hadn’t heard of. Plume is a lash-enhancing serum, a great alternative as this product is natural. Check out their social pages, it’s receiving some pretty wonderful praise… and do your homework shopping around. I have no idea how we’ve managed to get such a great price.

Westmore Beauty have their first full hour with us this weekend, too! The Westmore family have a heritage as Hollywood film make-up artists. This make-up is really about high coverage performance. QVC Buyer, Mary, says “The Body Coverage Perfector is amazing, it is my personal cannot-live-without item… I bulk buy it. My legs are a bit of a state and this is like make-up for the body, covers veins, lumps and bumps and gives a nice natural colour. It also does not transfer”. The whole hour has some really great problem-solving items drawing on that film make-up artist trickery. I know I need more of that the older I get!

If you’re looking for organic skincare, you simply must look out for Evolve. Evolve Organic Beauty also showcase their first full hour with us after successfully launching some key items from their brand last September. They are an artisan brand of skin and body products. They are all made in Hertfordshire, here in the UK, and each item comes with the name of the person who has made your product on the label. They are vegan and cruelty-free and made in small batches to ensure the highest levels of freshness. Organic natural products made from natural superfood-based ingredients.

Many will say that beauty comes from within and we are helping you feel and look beautiful from the inside out by supplementing your health. A great way to kick start your new year, we’ll be focusing on supplements with a wide range of brands and items including, Your Zooki Blackcurrant and Apple Omega 3 that can be added to your smoothies or juices, and Zaggora Protein Super Smoothie, suitable for vegans and gluten-free. It goes beyond the normal capsules and has products that can be added to your food, drinks, baking and more.

This is an area I am now looking into as I’m currently on a whole food, plant-based (or vegan) diet so I want to ensure I’m getting everything my body needs to be as healthy as can be. Ali Young and I had a chat about the importance of supplementation just the other day, in fact. She may be our resident beauty expert but she’s also very aware that it’s not just what you put on, but IN, your body that makes a difference. You, you at the back there…stop chuckling. It wasn’t meant that way 🙂

I don’t know if that leads me on nicely to ‘Loose Women’? Ok, I’ll admit it’s me who’s giggling now but I’m referring to the lunchtime chat show and one of the regular Loose Women, Saira Khan. She is back on our screens with a brand new product from her own range, the Saira Skin Exfoliating Treatment Mask and it’s suitable for vegans, too.

There really are too many exciting things happening to mention on my blog so I’ll finish with Deciem. Deciem have their first TSV on Saturday (but if you can’t wait until then, you can buy it here now)! Deciem are part of the Abnormal Beauty Company and have really been at the forefront of innovation in the beauty industry. If you’re a beauty junkie you probably know and love NIOD and this TSV contains the customer favourite Multi Molecular Hylaronic Complex, you can also discover ranges from the brand including Fountain, The Ordinary, Hylamide and The Chemistry. All these items can help boost your regular beauty regime.

In addition, there are special event prices running through the weekend and keep your eyes peeled for One Time Only offers if (I think it’s more like ‘when’) our TSVs sell out! So, if you love cosmetics, skincare, supplements, haircare, nailcare and more then, like me, don’t bother venturing out this weekend. Stay in the warm and enjoy the shows!

Love Catherine xx

It’s great there are more vegan products appearing on QVC. I’ve been vegetarian for 1.5 years and try to eat vegan as much as I can. Have to admit I give in to cheese now and again 🙁
Do you think you’ll go back to eating meat etc?

      Hi Joanne,

Thanks for your post. I’m like you, I’ve always been a big cheese lover! However, what this new way of eating is hewing me is that there are so many wonderful foods to choose from and I am, genuinely, enjoying trying new things. My daughter follows a vegan diet and sometimes sends me pics of her meals. The last one was of a marmite and vegan cheese sandwich. I doubt it had much nutritional value but it’s good knowing there are some alternatives out there if you need a quick fix.

I’m planning to keep it going but I know that the smell of crispy bacon and a good cheese sandwich will try and get the better of me, ha ha!

      Good luck to us both!

Honestly you look better with the curves.

      Hi Natalie,

Thanks for the compliment. I quite like my curves, too. I hope I don’t lose them but want to be healthy. I have been larger and healthier and there are times when I’ve been skinny but very unhealthy. Now I’m hoping to get it just right.

      Love Catherine x
