Another week has raced by at QVC and some wonderful shows I’ve been fortunate to present as well. I hadn’t been on air with Tova for so long I was beginning to wonder if it would ever happen again! Well, just when I had all but given up hope I was lucky enough to be on air with her once more. Tova’s fragrances are truly divine as is her range of Diamonique. I hope I’ll be in her company again in the not too distant future.
Speaking of time, I often write how it seems to be racing by these days… For example, this year for me celebrates 20 years since mixing the ‘In The Mix’ album series for Virgin Records. It is without question, a career highlight for me. I’ll never forget heading into Woolworths with my mum to show her the album, she was so proud. ‘In the Mix 96’ was the first of the series, but I was fortunate enough to mix and produce many more.
My favourite being ‘In the Mix 90s Hits’. They were amazing times and we were always working to a tight deadline which began on a Friday afternoon, mixing the tracks throughout the weekend, to be mastered first thing Monday morning.
Speaking of years ago… Do you remember these? Weebles! I came across them in our cupboard under the stairs. Do you also remember the TV jingle? Weebles Wobble but they don’t fall down! Brilliant!
Looking back I wish I kept some of my toys from my childhood. A real favourite of mine was the Fisher Price garage which had a lift and it’s very own pretend petrol pump as well. I also loved my Fisher Price record player too. I was lucky enough to receive a drum one birthday… I was hoping to upgrade to an entire drum kit but that never materialised… I can’t imagine why!
In my teens I received my very first computer a Sinclair Spectrum, and I still have it to this day; although it hasn’t been plugged in for at least 25 years. Some of the top games to own at the time were Hungry Horrace or Horace Goes Skiing! The games were on cassette tape!
A friend of mine owned a Sinclair Spectrum model which had the cassette deck built into the key board! I wonder where technology will be in another 25 years’ time?
What was your favourite classic toy?
See you soon and have a great week.
And remember… those Weebles wobble… but they don’t fall down!
