We’ve had one or two rather wonderful, teasing days of sunshine and now we seem to be back to greyness for the Easter weekend. But adding colour to our homes and gardens can lift our spirits, and QVC makes it easy!
My Easter fun starts early on Thursday, with two hours in Richard Jackson’s garden from 9am and also a brilliant indoor/outdoor rug featuring as our Today’s Special Value. Last year was the first time we showed you one of these rugs, also as a TSV, and it was an early sell out. I bought two of them and have been delighted with how robust, virtually indestructible and easy to clean they are, and also how good they look.
This year’s pattern is an on-trend Marrakech tile-inspired print. It comes in five colours: blue, green, mustard, terracotta, red and new for this year to give a stylish muted look, grey. Each colour is in three different sizes: 70cm x 150cm (Runner), 100cm x 170cm, and 160cm x 213cm.
I’ve used the mustard runner on top of an old coir type carpet in our hallway, which has yellow walls. It hides the marks and gives a brighter look to an area that really needs redecorating.
My favourite, though, is in the conservatory end of our kitchen – really the room we live in. A big squashy sofa with coloured throws and cushions is the hub of our home, and the spicy, brick tones in the rug really add to the overall look.
It’s positioned by the French windows which open into our garden so will get a lot of dirty footfall. The easy-clean aspect of the rug – you can even scrub out any stains – will be such a help in keeping it look good as new. We could even put it out on the decking later in the year – it is truly an indoor/outdoor rug.
And if you’re looking for more colour in your garden, make sure you join us for a big gardening weekend, with two hours at 9am on Thursday and Good Friday, two hours at 9am and midday on Easter Sunday and all day on Easter Monday. I bought some tulips from de Jager last autumn when they were the Gardening Pick of the Month. They are looking fantastic now and I can’t wait for them to burst into flower. You have until Saturday to buy March’s special pick, nine dark red geranium plants for under £17 and no p&p to pay. There will be a new one for April, on Sunday, and loads more amazing deals on what could be the busiest gardening weekend of the year. Enjoy it!
Take care, Kathy x
