Getting winter-ready with crumbles, skincare and fashion

2

Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by to read my blog. I had a lovely start to this week with Craig Rowe when he interviewed me here.

The months seem to be flying by and with Halloween and Guy Fawkes night behind us we are speedily racing towards you know what. What with moving and working it’s been a super duper busy month for me. The move all went well and we discovered that the new place has a little allotment! I love gardening and have missed growing my own vegetables. Nothing tastes better than something that you have grown and dug up from the garden or picked from a tree yourself. So you can imagine how pleased we were when we found a big apple tree with lots of tasty little eating apples! We managed to gather lots and now have a big old store of them in the kitchen to munch. I was especially delighted one evening when I returned from a particularly long week to find Elliot had been a busy baker in the kitchen and made this absolutely delicious apple crumble. It is one of my favourite puddings. I have it with lots and lots of custard! I ate so much I fell fast asleep in front of the fire within minutes.

As it’s getting chillier outside I have noticed that my skin is changing – which happens every year – so I’ve been trying different skincare regimes. I must admit- Ali Young – cover your ears! – I used to be very basic with my skincare and although I used make-up remover I rarely used a toner and would hop between high-street moisturisers as I never seemed to find anything that felt right for my skin. Now we have QVC Beauty as one of our live channels it’s been a real opportunity to try new beauty products which means I can share my experiences with you.

Recently I tried The Ordinary range. At first I wasn’t sure how I would get on using the different suggested steps but once I lined them up in order of which one went first, I began to really enjoy the ritual and the fact it didn’t actually take me much longer than when I used only moisturiser.

This is my little line-up of beauty treatments to help remind me of which comes first. Elliot collected the beautiful little urchins when he went diving recently, they are so pretty. The biggest delight came however when I noticed within about eight days that my skin looked brighter, cleaner, and less red (I suffer from rosacea intermittently) plus the texture of my face appeared smoother and softer. Next I’m going to be trialing Skinsense which is this week’s Beauty Big Deal.

Talking about the cold, have you got yourself your winter jacket yet? I’ve owned my Centigrade jacket for about two years and it’s my go-to piece whenever it’s cold. Take a little look at our gorgeous outerwear selection, the pic below is a sneak peek.

Keeping in style also means having a nice new bag (any excuse, hehe). Have a look at this week’s QVC Style Big Deal from Ashwood right here.

By the way, if you have a little Star Wars fan here’s a fun gift idea.

Have fun and look forward to hearing from you.

See you soon.

(Elliot collected the beautiful little urchins when he went diving recently) isn’t that cruel?

Hi Darcy, I can reassure you that no live urchins were damaged in any way at all. Elliot is a qualified diver and loves marine life, and would never take a live urchin. There are lots of old urchin shells lying on the sea bed – a bit like old snail shells – and Elliot picked a couple of empty ones up.
