Haven’t we been lucky with the weather this past week? The longer we can hang on to some welcome warmth and sunshine, the shorter winter will feel. And yes, the nights have turned chillier and I need a coat when I leave for work early mornings, but that’s a price I’m happy to pay in return for clear skies by day.
I was working on Sunday but unusually for me my hours were later in the day, so I was able to seize the opportunity for a gentle walk around the woodland and fields behind our home. I’m so lucky to live on the edge of the Chilterns, close enough to London to get to work in reasonable time but surrounded by lovely countryside that I can enjoy without having to use my car.
I love to walk with poles, Nordic walking, which is great exercise for the entire body and reduces the impact on the lower body joints by taking some weight in the arms, back and shoulders. That’s important for me as Sunday was my first walk since my knee op five months ago. I’ve been slower to heal than I’d hoped and I’m still not pain-free but I’m ready to move on from the rather monotonous exercises I have to do.
So it was on with my Women with Control leggings and Vionic trainers and out I went! What an uplifting morning – the birdsong was orchestral, horses grazed peacefully and the fields of stubble were golden in the sunshine. The deep blue sky disguised the fact that it’s October already.
In fact, the colours were vibrant. Even though the leaves haven’t really started to turn, the fruits of autumn were abundant. The rosehips are glorious at the moment, reminding me of the AD Synergy Rosehip oil (212861) that was to feature in my beauty hour later that day. It’s the highest quality organic facial oil for a really low price; beautifully light and easily absorbed and with 12 reviewers scoring giving a rating of 4.5 out of 5 it’s definitely worth a look.
There was wildlife too – I saw wagtails bobbing, pheasants strutting, red kites riding the thermals above and magpies like I’ve never seen before! It started with two (for joy, of course) two more arrived (for a boy…) and then three more swooped down to join them. I haven’t seen seven in one go before – I wonder what the secret, never to be told, could be?
I’m going to tell you my little secret, though! We are starting two exciting new projects next week on QVC. If you’re a Facebook fan you should try to catch our new live slot every evening at 7pm (starting Monday 10th October). Our ‘QVC Find on Facebook’ will feature one of our presenters introducing you to a special piece of jewellery. As it’s live, you’ll be able to comment or ask questions – do let us know whether you enjoy the feature. The secret is that the first spot on Monday will be with Chloe who will have something from our Radley range for you – I hope you love it!
Also on Monday we’ll see the first of a series of live hours on the QVC Style Channel, every weekday at 4pm for ten weeks. The lovely Eilidh Nairn will be presenting two shows a week and you’ll also see our regular presenters bringing you the best from our fashion department; plus one of my favourite shows – Style Your Wardrobe – which features our inspiring stylist Katie Powell. There’ll be a Facebook Live 15 minutes before each of these shows and a giveaway (you’ll have to watch to find out more about that!).
I hope you can catch one or more of these new events and maybe make them a regular part of your QVC habit. And I also hope that you have managed to enjoy some spirit-soaring sunshine this week – here are some of the photos I took during my walk. How lucky I am to have all this on my doorstep?
Have a great week
