Hi there, thanks for stopping to read my blog. I hope you’re having a good week?
Well we are definitely settling into the routine of my eldest daughter Tilda being a full time school girl. It’s so funny to hear about her day and what she’s been up to. She seems to really love it, although I think the long weeks are tiring for her. It’s been so lovely to get some more one-on-one time with my littlest Ivy though.
We’ve been going to some baby sensory classes where we sing and play with flashing lights and musical instruments etc. but the other thing which has been so nice is that when she has her afternoon sleep I now have an opportunity for a little me time.
Like everyone, I have a to-do list as long as my arm but taking an hour here and there for yourself is so important too. So this week once Ivy was asleep I took the Sweet Vanilla and Fig bubble bath from the up coming Today’s Special Value from Philosophy (this Sunday 9th October) and had a luxurious bubble bath. Granted, I was accompanied by 20 of the kids’ bath toys but still, I don’t get to do this very often so I didn’t mind!
The Today’s Special Value set includes a selection of gorgeous shower gels and bubble baths, plus the Amazing Grace Fragrance (which smells like Bergamot, muguet blossoms and lasting musk) and a baby pink wash bag. It would make a fantastic treat for yourself or the perfect gift.
But I didn’t stop at the bubble bath – I went for it with a treatment of Elasticizer from Philip Kingsley to keep my hair strong, smooth and bouncy, and I also gave the Flavanone Mud facemask from NIOD a go.
Now, if you don’t like to feel any kind of sensation from your skincare then this is not the mask for you. It creates quite a strong tingling sensation while it’s on your skin during use and for about ten minutes after you rinse it off too. Personally I liked the fact that I could feel that this mask was really getting into my skin to help de-congest and remove any impurities. As I don’t get the chance to do a mask that often, I want it to get straight to work!! My skin feels really soft now and does look brighter too – I’m going to try and make this a weekly treat.
The other thing that I really want to shout about this week is something for the kids. I had a toy hour recently, which was so much fun. In it I got to try out the amazing sticker collections from Mardles. The creator, James Murden, has developed stickers that come to life with the help of a free app. Now he purposefully didn’t show me them in action until we were live on air so we could show my real time reaction and boy did he get one!
I was absolutely blown away by these and knew that they would be a hit with all the kids I know. James kindly gave me a selection of them to take home to try and I popped two sets, the dinosaurs and the insects, into my Godson’s birthday bag along with his other present, and kept the others for Tilda.
We visited an ice cream parlour on his birthday and my goodness the stickers were the BIGGEST hit!!! When his friends arrived he was literally shouting for them to come and look at these ‘AWESOME’ stickers and what they do. None of them could believe it. Massive cool Godmother brownie points for me!!!
The fact that they could move the insects and dinosaurs around on the app and make them walk up their arms and hands etc was just the coolest thing ever. Just look at their faces in the picture.
Tilda can’t get enough of hers too, her favourite is the fairy and the unicorn. The fairy wings flutter as she flies around, and the Unicorn kicks at the ground with her hooves.
She also loved the dinosaurs as she has a bit of an obsession with pterodactyls! I will be buying these for so many children in the future. I will also be snapping up the colouring books from Mardles, which you colour in with whatever you want and then your picture comes to life through the app!! Amazing.
I have also been looking forward to the Christmas Food Hall all day on Monday 10th, I will need a lie down by the end of it as I will obviously HAVE to taste EVERYTHING! I know it’s a hard job but someone has to do it. I cooked the topside of beef for my family and it was wonderful.
I gave it a mustard and thyme rub and it was so good – it fed four adults and my two children and there was even a few slices left for sandwiches!! It’s part of the Today’s Special Value so make sure to tune in. If meat isn’t your thing though we have so much more including the most incredible Boozy Mince Pies from the Real Pie Company. They are a meal in themselves!!
