So… the wedding preparations are going well and we’re now on countdown to the big day! Just a matter of a few weeks away and Mummy is finding it trickier to make decisions, there seem to be so many of them, latest being my brother Neil wanting to know what colour tie he ought to wear “she’s only just settled on the colour of the roses for her posy Neil, you have no hope of an answer with that one!”
Maddie’s dress, as she is her Grannie’s bridesmaid, has been a lovely/ tricky affair so far. Lovely in that we finally found a design that Maddie (a growing up 11 year old) and Grannie BOTH liked ( that took some doing let me tell you) so the order was placed and paid for only then did the e-mails appear… it transpires that China- where it was to be made to her measurements is on spring break so “could we take the dress in the middle of March please ?” No we absolutely can’t. “Would you still take the dress and wear it for another occasion?” No… it’s Grannie’s Wedding Day once and once only and not really a dress to wear to the next school disco I’m thinking… so the end result was I had to cancel the order and try to find a dressmaker to make it from scratch – step forward Elaine.
So off I went to the wonderful Berwick Street in London and found the fabrics we needed. It was a veritable treasure trove full of exquisite fabrics, I was in heaven. I found the fabrics we needed and marvelling at how such a small package could be such an expense! I happily delivered them to Elaine and I’m pleased to say Maddie had her first fitting yesterday and it’s already looking so pretty , she’s happy I’m happy and Grannie will be thrilled I’m sure.
The boys are having suits altered for them, it will be so nice seeing them all spruced up, they are utterly different in size, Joe being super slender so big adjustments required on every bit of the suit and then Tom has thighs to rival Dan’s! He just cannot fit into the trend of the slimmer cut trousers of the moment that all the teenager ranges offered, so we have had to head to an adult suit. He is only a 38inch jacket and a 34inch waist trouser! How has that happened?
Mummy’s asked me to do the table decorations and I am so looking forward to it although I know I will be against the clock as I am also chief make-up artist and hairdresser for the bride, for the bridesmaid and for me!
We’re planning groups of cut glass bud vases, posy bowls, perfume bottles, anything vintage that I can pop single stems with foliage into and make it look beautiful I had a stroke of luck when I found out a lady in my village hires out vintage china and vintage glass for weddings and is happy for me to borrow her pieces to add into mine… I’m thinking more Downton than WI! Though a jam jar idea would’ve been a whole lot easier!
So all things wedding are a focus and this week I shall again be chief make-up artist as I have volunteered my services at the school production of Bugsy Malone. Joe attends a boys school so all the girls are played by the boys and Joe is Bangles, well when I saw the dodgy wigs the school had hired in I had to get my Hairuwear pieces down from the loft to show them how much better they could look! Also luckily a new range of make up called IT Cosmetics landed in my dressing room, so I have been playing with it, yes on myself! And on Joe! I didn’t feel I should post his pictures on my blog but suffice to say he looks fabulous and the organisers have asked me to go in and turn the other boys into girls too!
The make-up range is wonderfully pigmented, the blush is lovely and just a touch is needed, I especially like the colour corrector and am seeing my red thread veins on my cheek covered all day. I believe we shall see them on air soon and I shall let you know as soon as I know.
Talking of letting you know things… there are some delicious fashion pieces coming up for spring, we had a cheeky peek into some new pieces from some current and some new labels, they were beautifully displayed for us to see and Kathy, Marverine and I were all excitedly pouncing on things, interestingly we ALL picked totally different things out… here’s a few of my favourites…
The acid yellow top I wore at The Beauty Bash by Andrew Yu is fantastic and I believe due on air in March.
I LOVE this jumpsuit from Nick Verreos and cannot wait to get hold of it…these lovely tops, and this Helene Berman jacket was tried on straight away , I even fancy these lace trousers with a gorgeous high heel I think they will look amazing.
The jewellery captured me, it’s eye catching, fresh and exciting. After a time spent in winter months I cannot wait to shed the winter feeling and spring into this new fresh wardrobe. I know it’s a bit of a tease as they are not yet available to order but… as soon as they are I will let you know.
Don’t forget you can always follow me on Twitter @clairesuttonqvc where I often post up what I’m wearing etc.
Whilst it’s windy wet and wild right now… spring will be just around the corner I promise!
Much love ,
