17th May is a special day!

Norwegian flag The 17th May is a special day for us Biagis as it is Norway’s Constitution Day and as my wife is Norwegian, we have to put the flag out!

Norway is a country with a small population (about 4.8 million) but they are very proud of their country and celebrate the day they became independent from Sweden (17th May 1814).

In Norway it’s a public holiday and the town bands parade down the streets and everyone is waving the Norwegian flag. We can’t make it such an occasion here but the kids want to learn about it and I love hanging the flag up!

So “Gratuler meg syttende mai”  (Congratulations with the 17th May!)
